How much wisdom did we learn as our parents overlooked things to teach us valuable life lessons. I don’t mean overlooking sins or things we did wrong, but setting aside daily tasks to spend time with us. Sometimes mom would set aside laundry or dusting to take us to the library or other places. Dad would set aside yard work to take us fishing or swimming.

This did not always happen, as we were taught the importance of responsibility, but enough of those times were taken to show us we were important to them and to build memories. The combination made each of us what we are today. The apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 8:28:

“All things work together for good to them who love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.”

This report coming from the UK Guardian. In Uganda, 20,000 people driven from their land, homes, livelihoods, so the rich can get richer ... in the name of saving the planet from global warming.

Ugandan farmer: 'My land gave me everything. Now I'm one of the poorest'

Land tenure in Uganda is a subject of much dispute, and last year's farming evictions have left 20,000 homeless

Francis Longoli, a small farmer from Kiboga district of central Uganda, is tearful: "I remember my land, three acres of coffee, many trees – mangoes and avocados. I had five acres of bananas, 10 beehives, two beautiful permanent houses. My land gave me everything. People used to call me 'omataka' – someone who owns land. Now that is no more. I am one of the poorest now," he says.

Longoli and his family of six lost everything last year when, with three months notice, the Ugandan government evicted him and thousands of others from the Mubende and Kiboga districts to make way for the UK-based New Forests Company to plant trees, to earn carbon credits and ultimately to sell the timber.

Today, the village school in Kiboga is a New Forests Company headquarters. More than 20,000 people have been made homeless and Longoli rents a small house in Lubaali village. He says he cannot go back for fear of being attacked.

"I no longer own any land. It's impossible to feed my children – they have suffered so much. Some days all they eat is porridge from maize flour. When people can't eat well their bodies become weak – there have been lots of cases of malaria and diarrhoea. Some days we don't eat anything at all," says Longoli.....

Pure evil being perpetrated on the poorest, to save earth ... and benefit the rich.

Hey, this is the Chaplain again.

Saturday afternoon we had our annual Cardboard Boat Races out at the State Park. It was great; everyone had a lot of fun. And I learned something. If you build your boat out of cardboard sooner or later you’re going to sink.

Cardboard just doesn’t do well in water, no matter how much duct tape you use. As I watched those boats fall apart it reminded me of the Apostle Paul’s teaching in First Corinthian chapter 3. He’s talking about how we build our lives. And I like the way the ‘Message’ translates this passage, it reads.

“There is only one foundation, Jesus Christ. Take particular care in picking out your building materials. Eventually there is going to be an inspection. If you use cheap or inferior materials, you'll be found out. The inspection will be thorough and rigorous. You won't get by with a thing.” (1 Cor. 3:11-12 MSG)

The Cardboard Boats were tried by water and that can be pretty funny to watch. But the Bible says your life will be tried by fire. If all your labors are burned up that won’t be anything to laugh about.

What are you using to build your life with? Have you even stopped to consider the kind of building you’re putting up? Will it last for eternity? I remember a plaque I saw one time - it said;

‘Only one life will soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last’.

The U.S. government can learn a lot about shedding debt from Jerry and Sue Bailey.

The Jackson, Mich., couple paid off $92,000 in credit card debt in 5-1/2 years. "I still can't believe it when I hear the amount. I don't wish this on anybody," Sue Bailey says.

The couple's massive debt reduction earned them the Clients of the Year award from the National Foundation for Credit Counseling, a nonprofit association of credit counseling agencies that help consumers manage their finances and get out of debt. The winners were announced this week at the group's annual meeting in San Francisco.....

Sep. 18, 2011 (Reuters) — The mystery of Earth's missing heat may have been solved: it could lurk deep in oceans, temporarily masking the climate-warming effects of greenhouse gas emissions, researchers reported on Sunday.

Climate scientists have long wondered where this so-called missing heat was going, especially over the last decade, when greenhouse emissions kept increasing but world air temperatures did not rise correspondingly.

The build-up of energy and heat in Earth's system is important to track because of its bearing on current weather and future climate.

The temperatures were still high -- the decade between 2000 and 2010 was Earth's warmest in more than a century -- but the single-year mark for warmest global temperature was stuck at 1998, until 2010 matched it.

The world temperature should have risen more than it did, scientists at the National Center for Atmospheric Research reckoned.

They knew greenhouse gas emissions were rising during the decade and satellites showed there was a growing gap between how much sunlight was coming in and how much radiation was going out. Some heat was coming to Earth but not leaving, and yet temperatures were not going up as much as projected.

So where did the missing heat go?

Computer simulations suggest most of it was trapped in layers of oceans deeper than 1,000 feet during periods like the last decade when air temperatures failed to warm as much as they might have.

This could happen for years at a time, and it could happen periodically this century, even as the overall warming trend continues, the researchers reported in the journal Nature Climate Change.

"This study suggests the missing energy has indeed been buried in the ocean," NCAR's Kevin Trenberth, a co-author of the study, said in a statement. "The heat has not disappeared and so it cannot be ignored. It must have consequences."

Trenberth and the other researchers ran five computer simulations of global temperatures, taking into account the interactions between the atmosphere, land, oceans and sea ice, and basing the simulations on projected human-generated greenhouse gas emissions.

These simulations all indicated global temperature would rise several degrees this century. But all of them also showed periods when temperatures would stabilize before rising. During these periods, the extra heat moved into deep ocean water due to changes in ocean circulation, the scientists said.

I hope you did notice the words ... could, should, suggest, may have, etc. ... in other words ... they have no idea where the missing heat is ... because it isn't there ... instead we have cooling of the planet where nothing but heating of the planet was projected.

The alarmists are frantically trying to justify their sham of human induced global warming ... and Yahweh laughs.

How awesome to see each thing God created: stars, moon, rocks, creeks, mountains.... We could go on and on seeing things God put as an asterisk to call our attention to His majesty. Just a glimpse of a star-filled sky makes me want to get on my tiptoes and with outstretched arms sing to my Creator the popular hymn, "How Great Thou Art." The writer of Psalms 148:3-8 sums up this need to praise God with these words:

“Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light. Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens. Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created.”

Remember: You are an asterisk to someone.

Hey, this is the Chaplain again.

This past week I went to the County Fair. I stopped by and looked at the livestock and was reminded of something that happened many years ago.

Someone gave us a baby pig to rise; and it became a real pet. When I came home from work I would go out to the pen and pet the pig - then I would go in the house and my wife would say, "you've been petting that pig haven't you." She didn't see it, but she could certainly smell it.

The transfer of that odor reminds me of a V I P (a Very Important Principle) from God's Word the Bible. The principle is this, 'Bad rubs off, but good doesn't.'

You can read that in the Old Testament in Haggai 2:12-14. The N T equivalent is in 1 Corinthians 15:33, Don't let anyone fool you. "Bad companions make a good person bad."

Do you want another example; sickness is contagious, but health is not. It's the same principle. That's why we need to be very careful who we hang out with.

The Bible also says that one way we can know we are true Christians is because we like to hang out with other Christians (John 13:35). May I ask, is that true in your life? Who do you hang with?

LA Schools To Teach LGBT Curriculum In Anti-Bullying Effort

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Students in the Los Angeles Unified school district may soon be taught “age-appropriate” curriculum promoting positive images of homosexuals and their contributions to society.

KNX 1070′s Claudia Peschiutta reports the district approved an anti-bullying program aimed at reducing harassment at school for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students.

The resolution approved on Tuesday directs officials to come up with an implementation plan within 90 days, the Associated Press reported.....

The "thought police" are coming to a community near you ... and evidently pretty soon.

We might see children in the same light. For example, many students are opportunities for teachers to discover the potential that lies hidden beneath the surface. How many of us in our childhood were "weeds" that someone discovered and cultivated into something useful? God loved us as we were and allowed His Son Jesus to go to the cross to pay the price for us. The apostle Paul in Romans 5:8 says,

“God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

I know that it feels like people think that I should be 'over it' -whatever 'it' is... it has been three and a half years today...... I feel like every single day I put on a mask and I don't let anyone see how desperately sad I am.. I cry every single day - alone. I search for advice in others, but even those who are my close friends just act like I should move on.. or they tell me that they think I am handling it so well.. no, I'm not. and telling me that makes me feel like I don't matter- like no one wants to acknowledge my true emotion.. or they want me to be over it so that they don't have to deal with it.. for that reason I make it invisible to everyone except to God and Compassionate Friends... I never cry in front of anyone - mostly because I want my other kids to think that I am being strong... but also because people who have not been here have no good advice... Steve's testimony is pretty much the same as mine. On April 19, 1971, my friend, George Vangundy, died in my place on a mission in Vietnam. I could not go on the mission as I was on another flight that had been shot down that morning. George took my place.

Many times we feel inadequate for the tasks ahead of us. It is good to know God does not have to have our abilities, He wants our availabilities. God does not always take the most obvious, but many times uses the weaker vessels to bring about His purposes. In 1 Samuel 17:47, with Goliath staring down on the lad David, David stands in the strength of the Lord and says this to the giant in front of him:

“And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’S, and he will give you into our hands.”

This video is from his site linked to above. The site is called the "Climate Reality Project." The video is supposed to help convince us all to watch with baited breath his 24 hour effort to convince "climate warming skeptics" that we are ill informed at best ... or denial maniacs at worst.



Are you going to watch his stuff for 24 hours? If so, I've given you his web address ... so he can't be mad at me!

Does the fat lady start to prepare you to be convinced that our "hot air" is bringing the world down ... or does it demonstrate that the "hot air" behind the global warming by mankind scam is coming down around the alarmist's heads?

On the crossbar were the words, “My will.” At the touch of a spring the cross disappeared and left only a straight beam bearing the words, “God’s will.” Thus, when our will is lost in God’s and we are indeed dead unto sin, it is no longer a cross to follow Christ. We shall no longer complain that we do not get our own selfish way, because we shall not have any. When our will is contrary to God’s will, then we have a cross to bear.

What a blessing to walk with God in His will. Wouldn’t it be a blessing to be as Enoch and just walk on out of this world with God in Genesis 5:24 where it was recorded,

“Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”

Hey, this is the Chaplain again.

Ten years ago our world changed forever. On September 11, 2001 the unthinkable happened; the United States of America was attacked by terrorists. Ten years ago the towers fell, and so did our sense of security.

As I stood in NYC looking at unbelievable pile of rubble and debris, it was surreal, like a horrifying nightmare. It just couldn’t be real – but it was. As I tried to help the First Responders deal with their feelings, my own feelings were confused. I found myself asking, ‘God, how could you allow this?’

Ten years later and I still don’t have all the answers; but I know that God was there. I felt His presence in the midst of that devastation. I caught a glimpse of Him in those who tried to help. And strangest of all, I recognized His voice speaking thru me as I offered comfort and counsel to those in such need, such pain, and such grief.

Never before, or since, have I been more aware of the fact that God is in the midst of our sorrows. He does walk thru the dark valleys with us. The Psalmist said,

“I may walk through valleys as dark as death, but I won't be afraid. Because You are with me.”
(Ps 23:4)

Jesus makes a difference, He knows our pain, and He wants to hold us close to Himself in those times when the whole world is wrong and nothing makes any sense.

If you’re going thru a hard place – just let Him love you today. You may not get the answers, but you can still have His peace.

Pilot told to ram, take down Flight 93 By Washington Post Saturday, September 10, 2011 Late in the morning of the Tuesday that changed everything, Lt. Heather "Lucky" Penney was on a runway at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland and ready to fly. She had her hand on the throttle of an F-16 and she had her orders: Bring down United Airlines Flight 93. The day's fourth hijacked airliner seemed to be hurtling toward Washington. Penney, one of the first two combat pilots in the air that morning, was told to stop it. The one thing she didn't have as she roared into the crystalline sky was live ammunition. Or missiles. Or anything at all to throw at a hostile aircraft. Except her plane. So that was the plan. Because the surprise attacks were unfolding faster than they could arm war planes, Penney and her commanding officer went up to fly their jets into a Boeing 757. "We wouldn't be shooting it down. We'd be ramming the aircraft," Penney recalled of her charge that day. "I would essentially be a kamikaze pilot." For years, Penney, one of the first generation of female combat pilots in the country, gave no interviews about her experiences on Sept. 11 (which included, eventually, escorting Air Force One back into Washington). But 10 years later, she is reflecting on one of the lesser-told tales of that endlessly examined morning: how the first counterpunch the military prepared to throw at the attackers was effectively a suicide mission. "We had to protect the airspace any way we could," she said last week in her office at Lockheed Martin, where she is a director in the F-35 program. Penney, now a major, is no longer a combat flier. She flew two tours in Iraq and serves as a part-time National Guard pilot, mostly hauling VIPs around in a military Gulfstream. She takes the stick of her own vintage 1941 Taylorcraft tail-dragger whenever she can. But none of her thousands of hours in the air quite compare with the rush of launching was supposed to be a one-way flight to a midair collision. 'I'll take the tail' She was a rookie in the autumn of 2001, the first female F-16 pilot they'd ever had at the 121st Fighter Squadron of the D.C. Air National Guard. She had grown up smelling jet fuel. Her father flew jets in Vietnam and still races them. Penney got her pilot's licence when she was a literature major at Purdue. She'd planned to be a teacher, but during a graduate program in American studies, Congress opened combat aviation to women and Penney was nearly first in line. "I signed up immediately," she said. "I wanted to be a fighter pilot like my dad." On Sept. 11, 2001, they had just finished two weeks of air combat training in Nevada. They were sitting around a briefing table when someone looked in to say a plane had hit the World Trade Center in New York. When it happened once, they assumed it was some yahoo in a Cesna. When it happened again, they knew it was war. But the surprise was complete. In the monumental confusion of those first hours, it was impossible to get clear orders. Nothing was ready. The jets were still equipped with dummy bullets from the training mission. A third plane hit the Pentagon, and almost at once came word that a fourth plane could be on the way, maybe more. The jets would be armed within an hour, but somebody had to fly now, weapons or no weapons. "Lucky, you're coming with me," barked Col. Marc Sasseville. They were gearing up in the pre-flight life-support area when Sasseville, struggling into his flight suit, met her eye. "I'm going to go for the cockpit," Sasseville said. She replied without hesitating. "I'll take the tail." It was a plan. And a pact. She muttered a fighter pilot's prayer -- "God, don't let me (expletive) up" -- and followed Sasseville into the sky. 'The real heroes are the passengers' The planes screamed over the smoldering Pentagon, heading northwest at more than 400 mph, flying low and scanning the clear horizon. Her commander had time to think about the best place to hit the enemy. "We don't train to bring down airliners," said Sasseville, now stationed at the Pentagon. "If you just hit the engine, it could still glide and you could guide it to a target. My thought was the cockpit or the wing." He also thought about his ejection seat. Would there be an instant just before impact? "I was hoping to do both at the same time," he said . "It probably wasn't going to work, but that's what I was hoping." Penney worried about missing the target if she tried to bail out. "If you eject and your jet soars through without impact ..." she trailed off, the thought of failing more dreadful than the thought of dying. But she didn't have to die. She didn't have to knock down an airliner full of kids and salesmen and girlfriends. They did that themselves. It would be hours before Penney and Sasseville learned that United Flight 93 had gone down in Pennsylvania, an insurrection by hostages willing to do just what the two Guard pilots had been willing to do: Anything. And everything. "The real heroes are the passengers on Flight 93 who were willing to sacrifice themselves," Penney said. "I was just an accidental witness to history."

They were ready and prepared to sacrifice their lives for the cause of freedom. And there are millions and millions just like them in this nation to this day.
