She's not here

Losing a child to death brings a myriad of emotions ...
all complicated ... all different ... all difficult.

Cathy speaks today about ... hurtful comments ....

The thing I hated most was to hear...."she is in a better place" NO, No she's not...she's not here with her family!!
Cathy

Father, Yahweh, I pray today for Cathy, and all who have lost a child.  I pray that you will hear the cries of their hearts and be present with them in their sorrows.  You understand.

Father, bless them today.

Corrie ten Boom often showed a piece of embroidery to her audiences. She would hold up the piece of cloth, first showing the beauty of the embroidered side, with all the threads forming a beautiful picture, which she described as the plan God has for our lives. Then she would flip it over to show the tangled, confused underside, illustrating how we view our lives from a human standpoint.

While we see a limited view, God sees from beginning to end and all of the twists and turns that are going to happen to shape our destiny, and He knows what it is going to take to get us there.

The writer of Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us of the words of God: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

God, thank You for seeing our finished product and not just the confusion we have in getting there.  Amen.

“It is not work that kills men; it is worry. Worry is rust upon the blade” (Henry Ward Beecher).

The wise writer of Proverbs 27:17 says, Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” Burdens that are shared with a friend not only removes the rust, but hones us to be able to do more together than each is capable of accomplishing alone.

God, thank You for friends that help to make us useful to YOU and to others.  Amen

“If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way” (James F. Clarke).

At one time, I came to the realization that I would never be a sought-after soloist. I do not have the built-in timing nor the pitch or tone that is necessary. I can, however, sing with the choir and usually my voice can fill in to help make the finished product better. The wise writer of Ecclesiastes 9:10 reminds us: Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.”

God, use what we have in making us willing to serve You.  Amen

“Every man is a volume if you know how to read him” (William Channing).

Some people are easy to read. They are predictable, whether consistently doing the right thing or always doing the wrong thing. Then others have strange quirks. I have seen some of the most ornery men stooping to help a kitten or other helpless animal, and I have seen normally decent people committing heinous crimes. The truth is, though we find ourselves fooled, God knows.

The apostle Paul reminds us in Galatians 6:7, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked.”

God, You help us to be found faithful to You in all things.  Amen

"Wonder is the basis of worship” (Thomas Carlyle).

You can’t feel the sun on your back, the rain running down your face, or look at a snowflake of a star-filled sky without contemplating the awesomeness of the creator of all this. The writer of Genesis 1:14-18 records these words for us:

“And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.”

God, You are awesome and worthy of worship. Forgive us when we fail to see You in everything. Amen

“The mother eagle teaches her little ones to fly by making their nest so uncomfortable that they are forced to leave it and commit themselves to the unknown world of air outside. And just so does our God to us. He stirs up our comfortable nests, pushes us over the edge of them, and we are forced to use our wings to save ourselves from fatal falling. Read your trials in this light and see if you cannot begin to get a glimpse of their meaning. Your wings are being developed” (Hannah Whitall Smith).

Most of us hate having someone mess with our comfort zone. Sometimes, however, God allows challenges to come our way to cause us to grow in ways we never would have dreamed.

The apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 8:28, “All things work together for good to them that love God and are called according to His purpose.”

God, help us to be thankful even for those pushes You give to us.  Amen

“Where ignorance is bliss, ’Tis folly to be wise” (Thomas Gray).

We all have been to the place where any wisdom we have is wasted, and sometimes we can’t even fake the absence of sense enough to fit in. The wise writer of Proverbs 1:7 reminds us: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

God, help us to lay aside the ignorance of this world and seek Your instruction and wisdom.  Amen

“If you find yourself loving any pleasure better than your prayers, any book better than the Bible, any house better than the house of God, any table better than the Lord’s table, any person better than Christ, any indulgence better than the hope of heaven—take alarm.” (Thomas Guthrie)

When we think about it, nothing should make us happier than all that God has for us. Luke 12:29-31, “Seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

God, Help us to remember, You are all we need. Amen

“Of all God’s creatures, man alone is poor” (Thomas Carlyle 1795–1881).

Animals are unaware of their state; therefore, there is no pride nor is there jealousy. An animal will eat what is put before it (except for some cats) and be grateful. If animals , fish, insects, or whatever creatures are hungry, thirsty, hot, or cold, they will move or do what is necessary to change their circumstances without complaint. The apostle Paul gives us this charge in Thessalonians 5:18, “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

God, forgive us when we become poor in our own minds because we don’t have something else. God, Your presence alone makes us wealthy beyond words.  Amen

"God’s promises are, virtually, obligations that he imposes upon himself" (Friedrich Wilhelm Krummacher 1796–1868).

How amazing! What we could not even imagine, God volunteers. His love that bought our salvation is guaranteed by God’s own character.

Concerning salvation, the apostle Paul tells us in Titus 1:2, “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.”

God, thank You for Your Word that truly is Your bond. Amen

Awakening

VULNERABLE Scots children are being turned into modern day slaves by ruthless organised crime gangs, a leading charity has warned.

Youngsters are shipped to sweatshops around the country where they are beaten and half-starved then robbed of their meagre earnings.
And Crimestoppers claims some are even forced by the ultra-violent gangs to work in the sex trade — risking rape and repeated abuse at the hands of predators.

God is moving world wide to set captives free. And the trafficking of humans is probably happening in your home town. Get involved, find out, make a difference.

“Beware in your prayer, above everything, of limiting God, not only by unbelief, but by fancying that you know what he can do” (Andrew Murray 1828–1917).

The apostle Paul in his letter to the church in Ephesus encourages the Christians to increase their relationship   with God and His son Jesus. In Ephesians 3:20, he reminds us of the scope of God’s power:  “Unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.”

Such a statement stresses that for believers God’s power is limitless.

God, help us to know the power at our disposal through You if we just ask.  Amen
