Yahweh, Day 196

Day 196

Yahweh

The Nations Will Come

"Lord, my strength and my stronghold, my refuge in a time of distress, the nations will come to You from the ends of the earth, and they will say, 'Our fathers inherited only lies, worthless idols of no benefit at all.' Can one make gods for himself? But they are not gods. 'Therefore, I am about to inform them, and this time I will make them know My power and My might; then they will know that My name is Yahweh.'"
Jeremiah 16:19-21 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

The prophecy here is that the 'Nations' will one day come to their senses.

After thousands of years of attempted nation building ... Man will finally realize that Man has it not within Man to institute a truly just community.

When that day comes humanity will rejoice ... and Yahweh will smile.

This is in The Name.

The Health Care Battle Lines are Heating Up

In case you haven't heard a Federal Judge in Florida has ruled that federally mandated purchasing of health care by all Americans is ... unconstitutional.

The Washington Times
Quoting James Madison and Thomas Jefferson as authorities, a federal judge in Florida ruled Monday that Congress breached the Constitution when it passed the health care law, dealing the broadest rejection yet to President Obama‘s signature initiative.

U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson‘s ruling is the second to find that Congress exceeded its powers by requiring Americans to buy insurance, known as the “individual mandate.” But the judge went further, saying that if the individual mandate is unconstitutional, so is the entire law.

“The individual mandate is neither within the letter nor the spirit of the Constitution,” Judge Vinson wrote, warning that to allow Congress to use the Necessary and Proper Clause of the Constitution to justify it would “effectively remove all limits on federal power.”.....

A large majority of Americans agree with the Judge ... as does the constitution of the United States.

It is going to be very interesting to see how the Supreme Court rules on this because that is where this will eventually end up. Does the federal government have the power and authority to mandate any American to buy anything?

I'll just say that there has been more than one time in our nations history that Supreme Court Justices have voted in ways totally unexpected by the presidents that nominated them ... and this just might prove to be one of those times.

This is going to be the clearest test the Supreme Court has ever ruled on concerning the limitations of the federal government over the individual American citizen.

Good Intentions and the road to Hell

"Law of Unintended Consequences."

The following commentary is from The Borg Conspiracy.

An excellent piece on the American Thinker this morning.

A must read for those searching for answers and the reasons why.....
Perhaps the most over used but most accurate term used to describe the policies and ideology of the American Left is the "Law of Unintended Consequences." There is virtually nothing that these people espouse that once put in place has not had detrimental effects on either the people of the United States or the world.

Today there is a global food shortage and sky-rocketing prices. This has become the underlying factor in the riots in Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt, where up to 56% of a person's income is dedicated to the acquisition of food. These riots are now leading to the upheaval of governments and the very real possibility of the ascendancy of the radical elements into control.

While bad weather in various parts of the world is an element of the accelerating food prices there are two other factors directly related to the United States and its policies.

First, because of the enormous deficits run up by Obama administration and the Democrat controlled Congress, the Federal Reserve has had to effectively print trillions of dollars which have flooded the global market. Commodities are priced in dollars, consequently emerging markets throughout the world, and the food sector in particular, are suffering from rapidly rising inflation.

The CRB food index is up an incredible 36% over last year. Raw materials are up 23%. Since 2009 the dollar has declined by over 13% against the Japanese Yen and 25% against the Canadian dollar.

This is what happens when you give the keys to the kingdom over to the politics of socialist redistribution. Stay tuned it will get worse.

“The way to gain a good reputation, is to endeavor to be what you desire to appear.”

The writer of Proverbs 22:1 tells us,
“A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.”
Choose a good name by walking with God and the rest will take care of itself.

Killing 40 million and industry and agriculture is Good

In a post 5 days ago I shared a report from the Carnegie Institute that presented a rather glowing picture of the slaughter of some 40 million humans by Genghis Khan because the slaughter of 40 millions humans brought about.... the "Little Ice Age."

Now the American Thinker brings us the sequel to the good news of 40 million slaughtered humans... if we would just kill industry we could bring about just as good a result... oh... and kill agriculture as well... then a longer lasting global cooling effect would be the desired result.
...MongaBay.com cheers "How Genghis Khan cooled the planet" and takes the time to point out that modern environmentalists must destroy agriculture, not just industry: ...
Yup... these are sick people.

Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

"The first element in worship is adoration. The Hebrews expressed this by their posture and not alone by their word, for they prostrated themselves before God. O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. They did not come with an easy familiarity into the presence of God, but were aware of His greatness and majesty, and came with a sense of privilege to His house."
(H.H. Rowley)

Sometime we need to prostrate ourselves before Holy God physically, but always we must come to Him, humbled spiritually so He can fill us. The writer of Psalms 29:2 says,
“Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.”

"God, You alone are worthy of worship.
Amen."

I still know who she is

This from Pastor Bill today.

It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80's arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.

I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him.

I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound.

On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.

While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry.

The gentleman told me no, that needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I inquired as to her health.

He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's Disease.

As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now.

I was surprised, and asked him, "And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?"

He smiled as he patted my hand and said, "She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is."

When the world sees you and me laugh in the midst of fearful or heart-wrenching trials, they begin to know our hope does not rest in this earth and its leaders. At that time, we are to share the basis for our laughter so that they might look up and find the same hope.

The writer of Psalms 126:1 says,
“Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.”

"God, thank You for filling our mouths with laughter and our hearts with hope.

Day 195

Yahweh

Power In The Name

"Lord, my strength and my stronghold, my refuge in a time of distress, the nations will come to You from the ends of the earth, and they will say, 'Our fathers inherited only lies, worthless idols of no benefit at all.' Can one make gods for himself? But they are not gods. 'Therefore, I am about to inform them, and this time I will make them know My power and My might; then they will know that My name is Yahweh.'"
Jeremiah 16:19-21 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

God will in fact demonstrate his power to act in the contemporary affairs of humanity and creation. The question is not whether God can act... but rather... will there be anyone that has the discernment to realize that what is happening is by the active hand of Yahweh... in direct response to the idolatry of man.

This is in The Name.

(Joni Erickson Tada)

So many times, in looking back, we would never have begun the task at hand if we had seen all the struggles along the way. We can, however, follow Jesus day by day knowing He will be with us all the way. In Matthew 28:20 Jesus told us,

Now, that I can trust!

New England Snowbounding

Believe me... I know that the following is nothing more than the effect of Global Warming... I've heard all about it.

Accuweather report

New York City and Philadelphia are just two of the communities across the mid-Atlantic that broke daily snowfall records on Wednesday. For a more elite group that includes New York City, this month is now the snowiest January in history.
...
The recent storm total snowfall in New York City was 19.0 inches. The 12.3 inches that fell alone on Wednesday broke the day's long-standing snowfall record of 9 inches from 1871.

The storm also pushed the month's snow total to 36.0 inches in New York City. That makes this January the snowiest on record, bypassing January 1925 and its 27.4 inches.

This January is also now New York City's second all-time snowiest month, falling short to February 2010 and its 36.9 inches. There is more snow coming this month and in the not to distant future.

In addition, this is the first time in recorded history that New York City has had two snowstorms drop 18.0 inches or more of snow in the same winter. The last one was the post-Christmas blizzard in December.....

I know, I know... this is just an isolated event.... and isolated event that is happening all around the world.

Prepare. We are witnessing the active hand of God at work in response to arrogant man, that insists that man, can control climate.

We must strive to share our faith with others, reaching out in different ways than just the same old same old. You will catch one fish with live bait and artificial bait while others jump on liver and stink bait. The apostle Paul said it this way in 1Corinthians 9:22,

If we are to stand for what is right, we must make that decision before we are faced with the challenge. The writer of James 5:12 tells us:
“Above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.”

Genghis Khan history's greenest conqueror?

Research through the Carnegie Institution's Department of Global Ecology, reports that if you kill 40 million humans you can lower the temperature of our worlds climate.

Genghis Khan's reign of terror and destruction that killed 40 million humans is the proof in the pudding.

Mother Nature Network
Genghis Khan's Mongol invasion in the 13th and 14th centuries was so vast that it may have been the first instance in history of a single culture causing man-made climate change, according to new research out of the Carnegie Institution's Department of Global Ecology, reports Mongabay.com.

Unlike modern day climate change, however, the Mongol invasion cooled the planet, effectively scrubbing around 700 million tons of carbon from the atmosphere.

So how did Genghis Khan, one of history's cruelest conquerors, earn such a glowing environmental report card? The reality may be a bit difficult for today's environmentalists to stomach, but Khan did it the same way he built his empire — with a high body count.

Over the course of the century and a half run of the Mongol Empire, about 22 percent of the world's total land area had been conquered and an estimated 40 million people were slaughtered by the horse-driven, bow-wielding hordes. Depopulation over such a large swathe of land meant that countless numbers of cultivated fields eventually returned to forests.

In other words, one effect of Genghis Khan's unrelenting invasion was widespread reforestation, and the re-growth of those forests meant that more carbon could be absorbed from the atmosphere.....

This is amazingly... pathological reasoning... coming out of the Carnegie Institute. Oh... I know the authors go on to say we really need to focus on reforestation projects to take the 700 million tons of carbon out of the atmosphere... but make no mistake... humans are presented here as the enemy of nature.

The environmentalists main goal is to limit the number of humans... and this is just one more effort to shore up that message.

Better watch your back all you carbon producers.

110 reasons ro remember

The following
comes to us via The Borg Conspiracy.

Next week is Frank Buckles one hundred and tenth birthday. The last surviving Dough Boy, the last of Pershing's Patriots. It should be a time that is hallowed in our history. A time when the last living survivor of the war to end all wars should be celebrated and hailed as a national treasure.

I wonder how many Americans will know. I wonder how many Americans will be told of this man's milestone by the media. Tonight the eyes of the nation will be tuned to the words spoken by the president to the nation. We will be told how great things are and how much better they will be. But we won't be told of the heroes who made this nation possible.

We won't be told of her defenders or of those like Frank Buckles, who went to war as boys and came back as men and contributed to saving Europe's and ultimately our own future.

How many people will remember? I don't know yet. How many people will stand and salute the life of America's oldest patriot? I don't know, but I will try to report back.

God Bless them!

Since the government took over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, taxpayers have spent more than $160 million defending the mortgage finance companies and their former top executives in civil lawsuits accusing them of fraud. For people who are sick of the cold and snow and hoping for a quick end to winter, AccuWeather.com Chief Long Range Forecaster Joe Bastardi may have bad news.

More persistent cold is expected to hold strong through at least the middle of February across much of the eastern two-thirds of the country. Bastardi also expects wintry events to last into April in some areas, which would be longer than last year.

Based on what is predicted for the rest of the season, Bastardi also says that this winter could end up being the coldest for the nation as a whole since the 1980s....

Of course North America is only one Continent... but the same is happening world wide.

NASA targets children with Climate Kids website

It is disappointing to see that NASA has now officially entered into the abuse of children to promote the propaganda of the global warming alarmists... so disappointing.

full report at Climate Quotes
..... You don't get that impression from NASA's 'Climate Kids' website. I told myself I wouldn't use the word propaganda in this post, but the website is so one-sided and it is so obviously designed to appeal to emotion I don't know what else to call it. Go ahead and visit before I describe it and see if you agree.....

When you start fear-mongering children you've reached the bottom of the barrel.

PBS should produce a new investigative documentary titled
"NASA... how to go from the heights of putting men on the moon.... to the depths of manipulating children in one generation."

Or NBC... or ABC... or CBS could produce it. Even FOX could for that matter.

"Jesus loves the little children,
All the children of the world.
Red and yellow, black and white,
All are precious in His sight.
Jesus loves the little children of the world."

Many of us learned this song as children, but did you know the real story? The tune was written by George Frederick Root as an 1864 Civil War tune titled “Tramp, Tramp, Tramp, the Boys are Marching." Later the words of “Jesus Loves the Little Children” were written for the tune by one of Root’s favorite lyricists, Clare Herbert Woolston.

How fitting that out of one of the cruelest tests of American history comes a song of simple reconciliation. Children have no problem getting along; however, as adults we start to complicate our lives. Maybe if we were to go back to the basics, we could learn the complex truths of John 3:16:
“For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

"God, thank You for Your love to the world that includes me.
Amen."

Day 194

Yahweh

Is Your Redeemer 12

God of All the Earth

"Rejoice, barren one, who did not give birth; burst into song and shout, you who have not been in labor! For the children of the forsaken one will be more than the children of the married woman," says the Lord. "Enlarge the site of your tent, and let your tent curtains be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your ropes, and drive your pegs deep. For you will spread out to the right and to the left, and your descendants will dispossess nations and inhabit the desolate cities. Do not be afraid, for you will not be put to shame; don't be humiliated, for you will not be disgraced. For you will forget the shame of your youth, and you will no longer remember the disgrace of your widowhood. For your husband is your Maker- His name is Yahweh of Hosts- and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; He is called the God of all the earth."
Isaiah 54:1-5 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

The prophet heard this clearly... with the reign of Messiah, the Kingdom of Yahweh would no longer be the reign of God over a specific people (the Hebrews)... but would extend to every tribe, nation, language, and impact every culture on this planet.

This is in The Name.

The Chaplain's Corner

Guest blogger, Chaplain Paul, is one of the most effective chaplains in America today. He is an emergency responder to every situation.

Hey, this is the Chaplain again.

Do you know the difference between 'Facts' and 'Truth'? There is a big difference between the two.

Facts have to do with the details of: who, what, when, where, and how. Truth encompasses much more than just the facts; it's rooted in significance and meaning. Truth deals more with - why.

You may know the facts of an event or situation, but only as you understand the meaning or significance of what happened can you come to know the truth. Ultimately, truth has an eternal, divine aspect to it. All real truth comes from God. And all real truth points to God.

Your quest in life should be for more than just the facts; you need to understand life in the context of God's eternal purposes. You must seek to have His understanding and to know what things mean from His perspective. In the Gospel of John, Jesus tells us,
"When you have the Holy Spirit in you, He will guide you into all real truth, because He is the Spirit of truth." (John 16:13)
Jesus teaches that only the Holy Spirit can lead you to real truth. He can reveal to you why things happen, how they fit into God's plan, and what you should expect as a result.

When you're faced with puzzling situations or difficult problems, ask the Lord for His truth.

Columnist’s Call for Palin Moratorium

This is simply hilarious.

The MSM is absolutely terrified of Sarah Palin. I think they have nightmares of her at night... she consumes their thoughts and fears... and some of them are figuring out that they will soon be diagnosed with their own new psychotic disease... Palinphobia.

Yahoo

The media still can't get enough of Sarah Palin, whose name immediately translates to clicks and TV ratings. Meanwhile, the former GOP vice presidential nominee has made criticizing the "lamestream" media a key part of her political brand.

.....

Milbank — who admits he has written about her in 42 columns since 2008, when she hit the national stage —is now pledging to go a month without writing about her. He's also calling "on others in the news media to join me in this pledge of a Palin-free February"....

.... "Let's take it one step further. I call on Douthat (who has mentioned Palin in 21 of his Times columns since 2008, according to a Lexis-Nexis search, and in scores of blog posts) to join my moratorium -- thereby forming a bipartisan coalition of The Post and the Times. I challenge columnists Eugene Robinson (33 Palin mentions), Paul Krugman (14), Kathleen Parker (30) and Maureen Dowd (45) to do the same.

"I also call on Keith Olbermann (345 shows mentioning Palin) and Rachel Maddow (183 shows) of MSNBC, as well as Sean Hannity (411 Palin segments) and Bill O'Reilly (664 segments) of Fox News, to take the pledge. Will Politico -- with 96 Palin items in the past month alone -- join this cause? Will the Huffington Post, which had 19 Palin mentions on a single day last week -- stand with me?"

OK... lets all watch and see if they can go an entire month without speaking of Sarah Palin one single time. The MSM needs to learn the lesson that Job learned when his world came crashing in around him in Job 3:25: "...The thing I feared has overtaken me, and what I dreaded has happened to me."

I'm afraid that Sarah Palin is going to... happen... to the MSM out of their fear of her.

House of Horrors

Brian Fischer from AFA is asking a question.

I've asked myself a thousand times about late term abortions... what's the difference between killing an already born baby and a baby not yet born? Now we have politicians that will not allow a baby surviving an abortion to be cared for... they are put into some place... wherever... to die on their own without care.... this along with the recent news story about the Philadelphia "Doctor" that has been operating a House of Horrors as they say.

Abortion on demand is a sickness of society and we really shouldn't be surprised at this kind of development. Sickness have a way of... expanding... you know.

Brian Fischer
What is the moral difference between discarding a baby and allowing it to die with no care, no comfort, no medical attention, and killing the same baby with a pair of scissors? Perhaps there is a difference in savagery, but there is no difference in barbarity.

This is a question that I haven't heard an answer for.

Often we find someone who will tell us how to complete a task, or give us advice about the way they used to do it. There is some pretty good discussion going on regarding the below video that is posted over at Brutally Honest. I thought some pretty salient points are being made that we would and should consider on the call for repealing obamacare.

Here are a few of the responses to the gentle-woman's statement that obamacare is mandated by the constitution.
.... “This bill as been vetted, this bill is constitutional…”

Yea, it was vetted so much that the then Speaker of the House, Pelosi, said “We had to pass the (healthcare) bill so we can know what’s in it”.

As far as being constitutional, that will be decided, but as of today there are 26 state attorney generals who think otherwise.
“…and it protects the constitutional rights of those who ask the question - ‘Must I die, must my child die, because now I am disallowed from getting insurance?’

Disallowed? Who’s “disallowed” from getting insurance?

I missed the part where the constitution says - “Life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness and healthcare”. Maybe Rep. Lee has a different copy than mine. Never mind that it’s in the Declaration of Independence.

It is interesting when Healthcare is proposed as a "right". If it is a right, it is unique amongst the other rights listed in the Bill of Rights. You know, that curious portion of the Constitution that is actually in the Constitution.
What I mean by unique amongst all other rights is that while:
You have a Right to Freedom of Religion, the government doesn't provide Bibles.
You have a Right to Assembly but the government doesn't provide halls in which to do it.
You have a Right to bear arms, but the government doesn't buy you a firearm and ammunition.
You have a Right to freedom of the press but the government doesn't buy you a printing press and ink.

You get the picture, by putting forth the notion that healthcare is a right, those who do so are also putting forth the notion that, at the point of a gun, the government has an obligation to take your children's money (you see yours is all gone) and give it to you neighbor to treat their erectile disfunction, pay for their abortion or otherwise pay for services that they cannot afford.....

Those who put forth the notion that "health care" is a "right" are positing that one person has the "right" to another persons time and treasure. How does this jibe with the notion that one of the inalienable rights is the right to liberty? If you claim, as your "right", the fruits of MY labor (be they money paid in taxes, OR my professional skills, if I am in the medical field), does that not make me, at least in part, your slave?

Interesting comments, insightful comments, and interesting days ahead.

We'll see how long the 'progressives' stay 'civil' as the debate heats up... and obamacare is either voted down or stripped on any financial resource.

Thanks for the discussion men.

Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

Worship is recognizing God for who He is; it is ascribing worth to Him; it is God's people telling Him about the worth they see in Him. In fact, worship could very well be thought of as 'worth-ship.'
(Don Weaver)

God is worthy of worship! He placed worth or value in us by sending His son Jesus to pay the price for our salvation. Let us praise and honor Him not only for what He has done, but also praise Him for Who He is! The writer of Psalms 71:8 says,
“My mouth is full of praise and honor to You all day long.”

"God, You alone are worthy.
Amen."

Day 192

Yahweh

Is Your Redeemer 10

Redeemed!

She was about 3 months old... alone... lost in a great big world. We took her in... tried to find her owners to no avail. The little hungry, frightened, diseased pup became ours.

Now a few months later she is healthy, loved, and... she thinks she is the head of our home! She really thinks that we exist for her joy and benefit when in fact she lives because of our benevolence and compassion.

Yes... she is a delight and loved... and she benefits as a result... yet... she lives ultimately for our pleasure as a result of our compassion.

May we have more sense than a dog.

This is in The Name.

Godless

This post by On The Mark

Stone Phillips of the Dinosaur Media just can't believe atrocities result from Godlessness.
How to Use Evil to Promote Your Agenda

Stone Philips asked the obvious questions probing Dahmer’s father and mother as to why Jeffrey committed these horrific acts. He asked if there were any signs, indications, events in Jeffrey’s life that would give us a clue as to how this monster was created. Was Jeffrey molested as a child? Did the screaming in the doomed marriage cause this behavior? The parents came up empty. They didn’t see any signs; they didn’t know of any catastrophic events. Jeffrey wasn’t abnormal or deviant by anything they saw. And if they had seen something, they would have hoped they would have reacted appropriately.

Then Stone asked Jeffrey the same question. Why? What caused you to do these things? Candidly, Jeffrey simply answers that he was Godless.

Shocking isn’t it? Jeffrey explains that up until he was caught and put into prison he had been told that he was primordial ooze, a product of evolution. After being convicted, his father sent him some information explaining that God created the world and the people in it. At some point, Jeffrey realized that he had to answer to a higher being. He logically understood that primordial ooze doesn’t have to answer to anyone or anything; a created human being MUST answer to his Creator.
[...]
Jeffrey’s father also added to the “God theory”. His father thought that if he had been more religious these things wouldn’t have happened. Notice he didn’t say: I wish we had him in sports. Or: If only I didn’t spank him. He put the blame right where it belonged: They were Godless.

If that were the end of the story, we could walk away with some important lessons. But, unfortunately, it’s not. You see, Stone Philips apparently didn’t believe Dahmer’s answer. He just couldn’t manage to take Dahmer’s answer at face value. Stone continued to probe into his parents, his classes, his life in general – ANYTHING but God – to explain why Dahmer did the heinous things he did.[emphasis by On The Mark]

But Dahmer stood his ground and said his parents were not to blame. His circumstances were not to blame. His father’s dreams and fantasies were not to blame. (Yes, they even tried that one.) He, Jeffrey Dahmer, took full responsibility for making the decision to mutilate his fellow man. And one day he will answer for his crimes to the One that created him and whose expectations for his life he cruelly violated.

Way to go, Mr. Plumber!

The following commentary is from the Borg Conspiracy.

Looking at that photo of Jared Loughner time and again this past week, I have been struck by the obvious. The shaved head, the shaved eyebrows, the sullen and sunken eyes and that evil smirking smile. But I have noted something else also. Looking at the mug shot of Jared Loughner, is to stare into the eyes of evil.

Not since I stared into the eyes of Manson, have I felt that same coldness and absence of human spirit. On the one hand, to look at this murderer is to look at the face of youth. A youth contorted and twisted by a disease of the mind so deep and unimaginable, as to run chills down the spine. I find myself hearing the voice of Heath ledger's characterization of the Joker, swooning to the camera "why so serious?"

I also see the same arrogance and cockiness that I saw over four decades ago, when I looked into the eyes of another assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald. The similarities are striking in my opinion, complete in detail down to the swollen left eye.

A recently famous line from the film Gladiator finds Russel Crowe saying "I once knew a man who said death smiles at all of us. All we can do is smile back." In a twisted sense, that is similar to the feelings that I sense when I look into the eyes of a Charles Manson, or Lee Harvey Oswald, or Jared Loughner. There are others. Those each notorious for their heinous acts and when you think of them and consider their faces, you see the same twisted smirks glaring back at you.

Evil smiles at all of us in my opinion. And when we look into the eyes of a Jared Loughner we can see that evil. Smiling, smirking, confident in the knowledge that it instills fear by it's very presence.

The one comforting thought to me, is that in most instances, the victims of evil such as this, never get to see or have time to study the faces of the death and evil that stalks them. I consider that a blessing. To think that the precious little nine year old girl who was killed by this animal, saw as her last visage of this earth, the smirking face of an evil such as Jared Loughner. That is something that I don't even want to consider.

So as the days and weeks pass and the case against this evil and diseased young man progresses, contemplate the evil present when you look into his eyes. For you are seeing the very essence of pure unadulterated evil staring back at you. Then consider this. What could posses a human being to these extremes of horror and sickness? The answer to that might trouble you when you truly consider it. What possesses these individuals is the same thing that you see when you gaze upon them. Their possession is evil.

And as it was in Jesus' day, it remains to this day. Men and women are possessed of demons and the devil that spawns them. And there is only one cure for their possession. Either death, or the presence of all mighty God brought down around them as it was in Jesus' day. When he called forth demons and cast them out of those afflicted.
Mark 5:6-9:

When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. He shouted at the top of his voice, "What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Swear to God that you won't torture me!" For Jesus had said to him, "Come out of this man, you evil spirit!"

Then Jesus asked him, "What is your name?"

"My name is Legion," he replied, "for we are many."

And that evil that existed in Jesus' time remains to this day. That evil exist in the black hearts of men as they prowl the earth looking for the means to express the evil that they are. We saw that evil expressed once again in Tucson last week.

I literally believe that if Loughner were to be asked his name by Jesus, the answer might very well be 'I am Legion' and we have met before.

Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

“Praise the bridge that carried you over.”
(George Colman)

Forget not the path that brought you here, nor the ones who brought you. We all have parents, teachers, and friends who have influenced the shaping of our lives. In thanking those who were and who are caring, loving, and influential in shaping our lives, we must not forget to praise and thank our creator. The writer of Psalms 9:1 words his praise like this:
“I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will show forth all thy marvelous works.”

"God, With all my being I thank and praise You.
Amen."

“Don’t let life affect your worship; let your worship effect life.” (LaMar Boschman)
Life has become so hectic that if the average person is not careful, he crowds out worship. Worship should bubble out into all areas of our life. We should not just keep our worship compartmentalized into one or two times per week.  We must keep our focus on God every day in every way. The Psalmist says in Psalms 57:7 says,
“My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise."

"God, let my praise freely flow to You at all times.
Amen."

"When God's people begin to praise and worship Him using the Biblical methods He gives, the Power of His presence comes among His people in an even greater measure." (Graham Truscott)

The Bible is filled with examples of praise and worship that have given us hundreds, maybe thousands of songs.  We see and sing and rejoice with David through the Psalms, and I, for one, think it would be interesting to have the rhythm to be able to dance unto the Lord.  The writer of Psalms 150:4 says,
“Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.”

"God, teach me to abandon myself in You.
Amen."

Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

“A few minutes ago every tree was excited, bowing to the roaring storm, waving, swirling, tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm like worship. But though to the outer ear these trees are now silent, their songs never cease.”
(John Muir)

Did you praise God and your fellow man today? Or, did you complain to and about God and your fellow man? As you are silent now, what you have said rings in the ears of those who saw and heard you. Give praise to God and remember to give sincere praise and compliments to those around you.

The writer of Psalms 57:7 says,
“My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.”

"God, thank You for the very breath to praise You and the mind to remember to do so. Amen."

The Chaplain's Corner

Guest blogger, Chaplain Paul, is one of the most effective chaplains in America today. He is an emergency responder to every situation.

Hey, this is the Chaplain again.

One evening Blossom called me to eat supper. As I looked at the table there was; baked pork chops, scalloped potatoes, sweet peas, apple sauce, hot rolls and iced tea. I thought to myself, and then said to her, "You sure do go to a lot of trouble just to feed me."

And then I thought; it's not just my wife - God goes to a lot of trouble just to take care of me. I told Blossom that I realized I could get by with just a can of Pork & Beans but, because she loved me, she put in a lot of work to get me fed.

As we sat down at the table and prayed I told the Lord that I appreciated all the work and trouble He went to just to keep us feed, and clothed, healthy and . . . God has been so good. He has met, not just our needs, but most of our wants - at least the ones that He knows are good for us and that will be used to bring glory to Him. He could have just given me a can of beans, and that would have been fair. But He does so much more.

We have just finished a special season in which we remembered how blessed we are. Many of us paused to be grateful, at least for a few hours. But let's determine that in the New Year we will stop often and just look at all He does and remember to say 'Thank you Lord for all of your blessings on
us.'

Of course His greatest blessing is salvation thru the death and resurrection of His Son, the Lord Jesus.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish..." (1 Peter 1:3-4)

Praise God for Jesus! Do you know Him?

Day 191

Yahweh

Is Your Redeemer 9

Do Not Hold Back

"... Do not hold back..."

What limitations do you think that we might place on ourselves that God has not placed on us?

Or...have you ever thought that we might allow the issues of our pasts to form barriers from our futures?

Not in Yahweh.

Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

“I find the doing of the will of God leaves me no time for disputing about his plans.”
(M. D. Babcock)

This quotation reminds me of the disciplines of basic training in the military at Fort Leonard Wood. We started early, worked hard, and finished late in the evening, which left little time or energy to ask the Drill Sergeants' questions, much less get into trouble. At the end of the day, our only response to God should be “Yes Sir!” As the writer of 2 Corinthians 10:5 says,
“Bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

"God, all I need I find in You.
Amen."

Day 190

Yahweh

Is Your Redeemer 8

Desolate Cities

"... your descendants will dispossess nations and inhabit the desolate cities..."

The effects of sin on any people is desolation... open, celebrated, aberrant life brings ruin to cities, communities, nations... humanity.

Yahweh will send His beloved children right into the middle of the desolation... to restore... and heal the cities.

It can be costly... for consider what Yahweh sent His Son into... in order to redeem us... and the price for our redemption.

Received this from our Sheriffs Department and thought some might find it interesting... and for some perhaps a little enlightening about the life of those that wear a badge for a living.

Married to a Cop
Not a Trash Collector

MICHELLE PERIN
Police Life Contributor
Officer.com

It is just a job.

Since I've had a police officer as a significant other, I've often heard this from people outside law enforcement. Many of my friends and family misunderstand some of the stress and complications that come with loving an officer. What surprises me most is sometimes I hear this same sentiment from those who do love an officer. We all have different experiences and there are no blanket statements when it comes to loving someone who has made the oath to protect and serve. All I know is my experience and what it means to me to love a policeman. How I feel it differs from loving a file clerk, a lawyer, or a trash collector.

If a trash collector went out on his truck every day poised to potentially face a life threatening situation, would his loved ones consider it just a job? His body rigid for 10 hours, hyper-alert to everyone and everything around him waiting, watching for a sign something deadly is happening. Along with this, wearing equipment that stresses his body and continues to remind him of his purpose and his potential for the power to take a life. The trash collector would have to go to every house not knowing what was really happening and having to have the mental alertness and acuity to sort through piles of human deception, horror and pain. He does his rounds, which include seeing the depth of human evil, possibly the body of a baby or a family wiped out, the pain of a mother's face who’s lost her son to death or drugs, a drunk driver wrapped around a tree, or a 13 y/o runaway with a baby face but hollow eyes prostituting herself. After he finishes carrying the weight of mediator, law enforcer, bearer of death, protector, mental health worker and devil, he returns to the station where the real fun begins.

I've never heard of a trash collector's wife listening as her stone-faced husband tells the story of pulling a 4 y/o out of the mud after being run over by her father's tractor. Her mother standing wailing beside him. A trash collector's wife does don't hold his head in her lap when the numbness cracks and the sobs begin. In my experience, here are a few things that make loving a police officer different.

Hours

One of the biggest complaints I have is the hours. They were erratic, long and make planning things a nightmare. Even though he had a set shift (I was lucky because my husband's department did not have mandatory rotations every 2 or 3 or 6 months), that didn't mean he would be home when he wasn't on duty. He might not be on patrol, but he would have training or most likely court. When he was home, he could be on stand-by which I felt was worse. We couldn't plan anything and we'd go into any activity with apprehension as to when he would abruptly be pulled away for his job. After we had kids, I felt like a single parent. He allowed me to make most of the day-to-day decisions because he felt he wouldn't be there to execute the plans so he didn't need to make the plans. When I needed to switch out due to frustration, often there was no one to switch out with. There wasn't the hope, which lingers when you don't have a partner, that someday it might be different. As long as he wore a badge, I would be the primary parent.

Communication Style

This was another struggle for me especially when I continued to study communication style, command presence and police technique. In the beginning, I didn't recognize his training in those things that bugged me about how he would handle conflict in our home. It seemed every argument was a challenge to him. He would flip to an authority in his voice and in his stance. It wasn't aggressive, just commanding. In time, I realized we both had to adjust our communication style because neither of us had been taught how to talk to our significant other or how to express our needs in a healthy manner. He reverted back to the only communication training he had which was designed to control situations and people in a law enforcement situation, not one with his wife.

Living in a Fishbowl

Another hard thing to take is living in a fishbowl. To each law enforcement officer and his or her family this can look very different. My husband and I lived in a large metropolitan area and many of our neighbors did not know what he did for a living. He worked in an area away from our home and didn't have to mediate conflicts with people he had grown up with. Many officers and their families struggle with separating the personal from the professional. What we faced most often were the constant questions or requests for advice from people when they learned he was an officer. I would stand quietly by his side waiting to go mix and mingle at a party as he would explain why the officer had a right to give this friend a ticket, how a civil case was different from a criminal case or why a recent police shooting across the country was or was not justified in his opinion. I doubt a trash collector's wife has to listen to queries about the best way to get out of putting their can at the curb at the right time of morning.

Pain

The biggest difference in being married to a law enforcement officer, in my opinion, is being connected to the pain that comes with the job. No human could be out in the world seeing, feeling, hearing and experiencing the amount of chaos and turmoil that exists in a police world and not be affected. This affect comes home with them. It gets reflected to those this officer loves in many different ways. It comes out as frustration, anger, impatience, distrust, and the hardest for me to handle, grief. Words cannot express the fear and sorrow that entered my heart when my strong, well trained, composed, stoic husband cried. The ache it caused in me is indescribable. I faced those tears after he witnessed the death of a child, after a violent sexual predator who he had spent hours meticulously building a case against went free on a court blunder and after losses of his brothers in blue; three to gunfire, one to a fight that ended up under a semi and one to a car wreck on his way home from shift. The ache still haunts me.

Being married to a police officer is not like being married to someone who does any other occupation. Yes, it is just a job, but within this job comes a lifestyle, a way of thinking and a social atmosphere. For these reasons, and those I've described, we have been given books such as, I Love a Cop and Cops Don't Cry. These manuals, along with support groups, online forums and informal get-togethers, help us survive in our world affected by our LEO's world. As long as we love a cop, we get to enjoy the whirlwind of emotion that comes with pride when he, or any other officer, does well or shame, when someone in blue messes up. We want to defend and justify when they or just their badge is attacked. We know most of them are good, honorable men and women. Because of this, we fight for them in public and in our hearts. This is what makes it different.

To those that wear a badge... and to those that live with and love those that wear a badge... SALUTE!

Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

A poor man had his meager lunch stolen by one of his fellow workers. Hungry after the lunch hour, he sang and praised the Lord, and the workers made fun of him. They said, “My goodness, your very lunch has been stolen from you and you’re praising God. What for? You’re stupid!”

“Oh, no,” he said, “I’m not stupid. They may have stolen my lunch, but they couldn’t steal my appetite from me.”

Our acts or reactions to certain things we face in life depend on what or where our appetites happen to be. For example, if our desires are for things the world has to offer, we likely will be disappointed even if we do receive the world's benefits. Real satisfaction comes when, as the writer of Colossians 3:2 says, we
“Set our affections on things above, not on things on the earth.”
"God, You are truly all I need.
Amen."
