Yahweh, Day 101

Day 101, Yahweh: Seek The Name

"Cover their faces with shame so that they will seek Your name, Lord. Let them be put to shame and terrified forever; let them perish in disgrace. May they know that You alone- whose name is Yahweh- are the Most High over all the earth.”
Psalm 83:16-18 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

Zephaniah gives us further light on this mandate to seek God's Name...

"Seek the LORD, all you humble of the earth, who carry out what He commands. Seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you will be concealed on the day of the LORD’s anger."
Zephaniah 2:3 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

In this verse and all occurrences where we have the title “LORD” in all upper case letters … in the Hebrew text it is actually God’s Name, Yahweh.  This is the purpose of this study of God's revealed name, Yahweh ... that we may once again Know The Name ... The Universal Name ... for every language and kindred ... to save and deliver.

It is in The Name.

Intercessory Prayer:  Oh Father!  Thank You for revealing Your great Name to humanity!  Help us to know Your Name, and proclaim Your Name, so that Your children will discover the fullness of Your abundant grace and deliverance.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Daily Nugget

Thursday, December 11th, 2014. Today's cherished nugget from guest blogger, Pastor Bill.

“Holy has the same root as wholly, it means complete. A man is not complete in spiritual stature if all his mind, heart, soul, and strength are not given to God” (R. J. Stewart).
No matter what we have or who we are in this life, there is a void without a relationship with the Heavenly Father. First, we were created by and for God to have fellowship with Him. Not only were we created for that purpose, but also we are commanded to love and to serve God.
The words of Jesus in Matthew 22:37 record that commandment: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.”
God, let our love and devotion to You be acceptable.  Amen.

Yahweh, Day 100

Day 100, Yahweh: Purpose Of Judgment

"Cover their faces with shame so that they will seek Your name, Lord. Let them be put to shame and terrified forever; let them perish in disgrace.  May they know that You alone- whose name is Yahweh- are the Most High over all the earth.”
Psalm 83:16-18 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

The Psalmist here captures the primary purpose of God's execution of Judgment ... to reveal that He alone is Yahweh.

Some believe that God's Judgment is purely a function of His rage against sin ... and therefore see God as some kind of angry, mad, creature ... thrashing about in some sort of delirious tantrum ...
Even in Judgment ... Yahweh is reaching out in a solemn effort to actually reveal Himself to humanity.

Intercessory Prayer:  Oh Father Yahweh!  Oh God!  Help us to join with You in Your divine purpose of revealing Yourself and Your Name to Your creation … for Your Name’s sake!  In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Tuesday, December 9th, 2014.  Today's cherished nugget from guest blogger, Pastor Bill.

“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time”  (Thomas A. Edison).
It is easy to start, but effort takes perseverance to keep on all the way to completion. The apostle Paul reminded us to, “Let us run with patience the race that is set before us”
(Hebrews 12:1).
God, thank You for walking with us, encouraging us to remain steadfast to the end.  Amen.

Yahweh, Day 99

Day 99, Yahweh: Our Desperate Appeal

"Cover their faces with shame so that they will seek Your name, Lord.  Let them be put to shame and terrified forever; let them perish in disgrace.  May they know that You alone- whose name is Yahweh- are the Most High over all the earth.”
Psalm 83:16-18 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

The Psalmist's appeal?  Even though the Hebrews are the ones being persecuted ... the appeal to God is on behalf of Yahweh ... and his reputation/Name in the world.

This is the focus of the intercessor/warrior that God is looking for today as well ... appealing to Yahweh ... on behalf of His Name.

Intercessory Prayer:  Oh Father!  Teach us to be intercessors before You … on Your behalf … on the behalf of Your Name … as Christ taught us.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.
