And this came from candidate for President Kerry:

During his first debate against President Bush on Sept. 30, 2004, the Massachusetts Democrat actually said it would be a good idea for the U.S. to give Iran the fuel they needed to make a nuclear bomb.

The question from moderator Jim Lehrer: "Do you believe that diplomacy and sanctions can resolve the nuclear problems with North Korea and Iran?" And to that Kerry finally responded:

"I think the United States should have offered the opportunity to provide the nuclear fuel [to Iran]. Test them. See whether or not they were actually looking for it for peaceful purposes. If they weren't willing to work a deal, then we could have put sanctions together." (From NewsMax.com)

Now let us see..Would that not be like giving a pyre-maniac a gallon of gas and a match? Kerry says we should give them nuclear fuel to 'test' them? And of placing 'sanctions' on Iran...the only ones who are hurt by 'sanctions' are the 'little people'. Saddam didn't suffer from 'sanctions'.

Saw an interesting e-mail. I liked it and want to share it...so here it is!

I'm over 50 now and the Armed Forces say I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be older than 35 to join the military.

They've got the whole thing backwards. Instead of sending 18-year-olds off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn't be able to join until you're at least 35.

For starters:

Researchers say 18-year- olds think about sex every 10 seconds.

Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a day, leaving us more than 28,000 additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy.

Young guys haven't lived long enough to be cranky, and a cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. If we can't kill the enemy we'll complain them into submission. "My back hurts!" "I'm hungry!" "Where's the remote control?"

An 18-year-old hasn't had a legal beer yet and you shouldn't go to war until you're at least old enough to legally drink. An average old guy, on the other hand, has consumed 126,000 gallons of beer by the time he's 35 and a jaunt through the desert heat with a beer carton and M-60 would do wonders for the old beer belly. (Note there are 24 hours in a day and 24 bottles in a beer carton...another convenient way to measure time!)

An 18-year-old doesn't like to get up before 10 a.m.

Old guys get up early every morning to pee.

If old guys are captured we couldn't spill the beans because we'd probably forget where we put them. In fact, name, rank, and serial number would be a real brainteaser.

Boot camp would actually be easier for old guys. We're used to getting screamed and yelled at and we actually like soft food. We've also developed a deep appreciation for guns and rifles.

We like them almost better than naps.

They could lighten up on the obstacle course however. I've never been in combat & I don't see a 20-foot wall with rope hanging over the side, nor doing any pushups after completing basic training. I can hear the Drill Sergeant now, "Get down and give me...er...one."

And the running part is kind of a waste of energy. I've never seen anyone outrun a bullet.

An 18-year-old has the whole world ahead of him. He's still learning to shave, to actually carry on a conversation, and to wear pants without the top of his butt crack showing and his boxer shorts sticking out. He's still hasn't figured out that a pierced tongue catches food particles, and that a 400-watt speaker in the back seat of a Honda Accord can rupture an eardrum, and that a baseball cap has a brim to shade eyes, not the back of a head.

All great reasons to keep our sons at home to learn a little more about life before sending them off to possible death.

Let us old guys track down those dirty rotten cowards who attacked our hearts on September 11. The last thing the enemy would want to see right now is a couple of million old farts with attitudes.

What is the price of 'fame'? This man has paid a huge price for fame. to no longer be able to be ones-self...is that a 'fame' we would desire? Also, on top of that, to have to disguise one's children in order to walk out the door of one's house...?

Shall we learn to be quiet and joyful in the labor of our hands. Would that we could learn to be gentle in service to the Father through our local congregation. Oh...that we might learn to truly love our neighbor and learn that loving the one next to you is a fame that the accolades of the world can never match.

Oh, that we could learn that love is greater than 'fame', that giving is still greater than receiving...if we could only learn.

The wisest are those who can 'learn' from the mistakes of others...therefore learning to avoid the same mistakes...this is wisdom...at least human wisdom. Few have it.

Helping the children in Iraq.

       Dear Operation Iraqi Children

  Thank you so much for organizing this worthy activity.

  It was almost 60 years ago that I survived World War II after 5 bombs
  landed in our garden. I received school supplies from the USA and I have
  never forgotten it!

  I was a 6 year old child in first grade in 1946 after World War II in
  Germany. At school we received a package of pencils and also a bar of
  chocolate-each of the children! It was from the US Marshall Plan and I
  recall that the Quakers were somehow involved as well. I have been a US
  citizen for many years and live rurally in Western New York State.

  It was very meaningful to me to receive this package from another country.
  That is why I am so looking forward now to assembling my school supply
  kit for Iraqi Children and also for our US soldiers to meet those who
  they are fighting for. May they have peace-both the children and our soldiers.

From the AP we get this wonderful glimpse of Iran's president. In just a couple of months his mouth has caused the entire free world to consider every reaction tactic known to mankind...even to the point of France's president threatening to use nuclear weapons? Against Iran?

Holy Cow! (No offense to Buddhists intended.) Would somebody get that Iranian president a 'calm down' pill, or 'cool it' tab, or something?! We usually want to know what politicians think, but I think with this one it would be better for the world if he would keep his 'thoughts' to himself.

Mayor Nagin has joined in with Brother Pat, despite his apology later, in blaming God for the hurricanes since God is mad at America over Iraq? I've been watching and waiting for someone to suggest that maybe instead of God, maybe it is Satan that is mad at America because of what we are doing in Iraq!

Now I would not say that myself for I think it is neither God nor Satan that has caused these hurricanes but rather it is simply the result of us living on a dynamic planet. If you build a city under sea level...beside the sea...sooner or later...it's going to get you! So why blame God or Satan for our stupidity? How about a little reality and human responsibility from someone out there? Didn't we get taught that water flows to the path of least resistance?

Then Nagin added that God was mad at black folks for hating black folks? So this was also a reason for the hurricanes? I am sure God doesn't approve of that...but to link God's anger against America for going into Iraq and black folks hating black folks...sorry, but I just can't make the connection between the two.

Whatever happened to the idea of leaders being 'statesmen/women'? From the US Senate right on down to local politicians like mayors, instead of statesmen/women we have been fed a litany of sound-bite mongers, hate/fear mongers, who prey on the public like ravenous wolves.

Oh, Father... Lift our minds out of the rabble of the day. Give our leaders...minds...to match their brains!
