Yahweh, Day 110

Day 110, Yahweh: His NAME Cometh
"Look, Yahweh comes from far away, His anger burning and heavy with smoke. His lips are full of fury, and His tongue is like a consuming fire. 28 His breath is like an overflowing torrent that rises to the neck. [He comes] to sift the nations in a sieve of destruction and to put a bridle on the jaws of the peoples to lead [them] astray."
Isaiah 30:27-28(Holman Christian Standard Bible)
In a very literal rendering I would say the opening statement like this: "Pay attention! The Name, Yahweh, comes from afar!"
To the Hebrew, stating or, invoking The Name 'Yahweh' … was equivalent to His actual presence ... which is indeed the present reality ... even though few recognize this.
We have looked at several characteristics inherit within The Name ... now the new characteristic inherit to The Name is the anger of Yahweh ... an anger that is not just fuss and frustration ... but far rather anger that is ... effective, present, and righteous.
Intercessory Prayer:  Oh Father!  Help us to recognize the movements of Your involvement in the affairs of humanity that we might ascribe to You the Glory due Your Name.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Daily Nugget

Saturday, January 31st, 2015. Today's cherished nugget from guest blogger, Pastor Bill.
A small boy was on the witness stand in an important lawsuit. The prosecuting attorney cross-examined him, then delivered, he thought, a crushing blow to the testimony. “Your father has been telling you how to testify, has he not?”
“Yes,” the lad replied and did not hesitate with the answer.
“Now,” said the lawyer triumphantly, “just tell us how your father told you to testify.”
“Well,” the boy said modestly, “Father told me the lawyers would try to tangle me in my testimony, but if I would just be careful to tell the truth, I could repeat the same thing every time.”
The wise writer of Proverbs 14:5 says this, “A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.” It is a shame that we live in a time when people will climb a tree to tell a lie rather than stand on the ground and tell the truth even when the truth makes more sense.
God, let our conversations be filled with Your truth. Amen.

Daily Nugget

Thursday, January 29th, 2015. Today's cherished nugget from guest blogger, Pastor Bill.
When the world sees you and me laugh in the midst of fearful or heart-wrenching trials, they begin to know our hope does not rest in this earth and its leaders. At that time, we are to share the basis for our laughter so that they might look up and find the same hope.

The writer of Psalms 126:2 says, “Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.”

God, thank You for filling our mouths with laughter and our hearts with hope. Amen.

Yahweh, Day 109

Day 109, Yahweh: One Generation To The Next
“Yahweh is great and is highly praised; His greatness is unsearchable. One generation will declare Your works to the next ...Your rule is for all generations.”
Psalm 145:3-4, 13 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
Have you ever wondered why God has us having children ... that have children ... who have children?
Yahweh is a generational strategizing God. This is a function of the wondrous complexity of our Great God. In order for Him to demonstrate this characteristic there had to be ... generations.  It is to show forth His Glory and uniqueness.  It is for his benefit.
Intercessory Prayer:  Wonderful and glorious Father … You are amazing!  There is no one like You!  In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Kind words don’t wear out the tongue (Danish Proverb).
With that thought in mind, neither do kind words weigh heavy on the ears or heart of the recipient. We must choose to spread some words of kindness  today and every day--words to sweeten the paths of others.
The writer of Colossians 3:12-17 gives us this encouragement: “Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.  And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.  And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.  And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."
God, thank You for setting a guard on my lips.  Amen.
