“Some people excuse their faults; others abandon them” (unknown).

As we close this year, what faults can we give up? What can we do away with to start the New Year? For most of us at least one fault comes to mind immediately. For those who do not think of any, that is probably one fault right there. 1John 1:8-9 reminds us: “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

God, help us to put away those things that stand in the way of a right relationship with You. Amen.

Get back out there

Losing a child to death brings a myriad of emotions ...
all complicated ... all different ... all difficult.
Kelly speaks today about ... some more bad advice

The worst advice was "It's a part of life, time will heal, just get back out there and get over it".... yea, I think that trumps everything else said to me.
Kelly

Father, Yahweh, I pray today for Kelly, and all who have lost a child.  I pray that you will bring healing to each and every one, but help them know that healing does leave scars.

Father, bless them today.

I remember going swimming and sticking my hand or foot into the water to see how cold it was going to be. Sometimes I would wade in until I was knee deep or waist deep before I would jump in totally. Though I was gradually getting wetter and wetter, I was not really swimming until I plunged in completely.

The same is true of our relationship with God. I see many people willing to trust God with the little things, but not giving themselves completely to Him.  The writer of Psalms 111:1 says, “Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.”

Let us give Him our entire self, plunging in totally to worship Him.

God, we give ourselves to You completely. Let us feel Your presence and power today. Amen.

Half decent days

Losing a child to death brings a myriad of emotions ...
all complicated ... all different ... all difficult.

Dennill speaks today about ... guilting

Someone once said, "I am glad God has never asked that of me." At the time, I didn't take offense, even though it left me speechless. Also, I had one person continually say to me, "I don't know how you handle this."--Even on those days I felt OK, it made me feel guilty for having a half-way decent day.
Dennill

Father, Yahweh, I pray today for Dennill, and all who have lost a child.  I pray that when the day comes that they can actually seem to breath freely, that You will be the freshness in their hearts.

Father, bless them today.

“Consider that this day ne’er dawns again.” (Dante Alighieri 1265–1321)
As this year draws to an end we understand this year and each of its days will never open before us again. There are days we would like to have a chance either to undo a problem, or just to enjoy it all over again. God gives us each day as a gift. The writer of Psalms 16:5 reminds us of this with these words, “LORD, YOU ARE MY PORTION and my cup of blessing; You hold my future.”
God, Thank You for this day. Let us be good stewards with what You have blessed us with. Amen.

Soldier suicide

Suicide now outnumbers combat deaths

WASHINGTON (CBS DC) – American soldier suicides continue to outnumber combat-related deaths in 2012, and the trajectory for soldier suicides continues to get worse.

The Army set a grim new record of 177 potential active-duty cases with 2012 coming to a close on Tuesday – 64 of these cases remain under investigation, 113 have been confirmed......

Sherri's word

Losing a child to death brings a myriad of emotions ...
all complicated ... all different ... all difficult.

Sherri speaks today about ... being strong?

"You are so strong" - interpreted to mean that I was unfeeling, unemotional, didn't hurt deeply
Sherri

Father, Yahweh, I pray today for Sherri, and all who have lost a child.  I pray that their strength will never be seen as being calloused.

Father, bless them today.

“I’ve shut the door on yesterday, And thrown the key away— Tomorrow holds no fears for me, Since I have found today”  (Vivian Yeiser Laramore).

It is easy to dwell on the past and allow paralysis to set in, keeping us from seizing the day. To be blessed with the means of finding the answer to such problems, we must remember these words from the writer of Psalms 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
What a blessing to know, when God is with us, both our present and future is secure.

God, thank You for being with us in our past, present, and future.  Amen.

A tourist came to close to the edge of the Grand Canyon, lost his footing and plunged over the side, clawing and scratching to save himself. After he went out of sight and just before he fell into space, he encountered a scrubby bush which he desperately grabbed with both hands. Filled with terror, he called out toward heaven, “Is there anyone up there?” A calm, powerful voice came out of the sky, “Yes, there is.” The tourist pleaded, “Can you help me? Can you help me?” The calm voice replied, “Yes, I probably can. What is your problem?” “I fell over the cliff and am dangling in space holding to a bush that is about to let go. Please help me.” “The voice from above said, “I’ll try. Do you believe?” “Yes, yes, I believe.’” “Do you have faith?” “Yes, yes. I have strong faith.” The calm voice said, “Well, in that case, simply let loose of the bush and everything will turn out fine.” There was a tense pause, then the tourist yelled, “Is there anyone else up there?”

What the person hanging into the bush did not know was he was only a little over a foot from solid footing. Many times we too are close to the solution if we would only let go and trust Him. The writer of Psalms 3:5-6 gives us this advice, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
God, I believe, help our unbelief. Amen.

There are 365 more Days until CHRISTmas. We have a whole year until we once again celebrate the birth of Jesus, God’s own Son.

Every day we not only get to but also should celebrate the resurrection from the grave, which is why Jesus was born. He came, died on the cross, and rose again that we might have eternal life. Jesus reminds us in John 10:10 of His purpose in coming to the earth with these words: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

God, thank You for sending Your Son to redeem us from our sin that we might reside with You forever. Amen.

“She brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn” (Luke 2:7).

We must not forget to make room for Jesus in our hearts and homes today as we celebrate His birthday.

God, protect those who must work and those who travel during this season. Help each of us to remember that Your son is the real reason for the season. Amen.
