Want to live longer? Get happy, study says

The following study is being released today on the MSN blog site.

Once again modern science and medicine does a little catching up with scriptural truth from thousands of years ago.
"A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones."
Proverbs 17:22 CSB

Want to live longer? Get happy, study says
By Joan Raymond

If you’re happy and you know it, maybe you really should clap your hands. That’s because being happy might make you live longer.

In a study published today in the online edition of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, researchers from University College, London found that happy people reduced their risk of premature death by as much 35 percent.

Unlike other “happiness” studies that rely on a participant’s long-term recall of emotional states, the researchers used a technique called Ecological Momentary Assessment, which gives a quick picture of what a person is feeling in real time.

In this study, the nearly 4,000 participants, ages 52 to 79, were asked to rate their feelings of happiness or anxiety on a sliding scale four times over the course of one day, beginning when they woke up in the morning. The scientists then followed them for five years, recording the number of deaths during that time.

After controlling for age, gender, depression, certain diseases like cancer or diabetes, and health-related behaviors like smoking, study results showed that those folks who rated their feelings of happiness higher lived longer than those with lower scores.

“I was a bit surprised that the happiness effect was so strong, even among people who had chronic diseases,” says lead author Andrew Steptoe, professor of epidemiology and psychology.

The authors are quick to point out although the study was designed to look at correlations, not cause-and-effect relationships, it highlights the importance of a positive outlook on life. “Older people have needs that we in society try to supply like good healthcare and ensuring they have enough money to live on,” says Steptoe. “But maybe we should pay attention to their well being in terms of happiness, too.”

Other researchers who study that sometimes elusive state of well being known as happiness say the study is significant. “I hope they continue to follow this group out to 10 years and 15 years,” says Stephen Post, professor of preventive medicine at Stony Brook University, since he believes the mortality gap between the happy and the sad may become even bigger.

Now think with me for just a minute. Why do you suppose that so much of the "news" is "bad" news? What do you think the physical effect would be on those who constantly ingest not just bad news, but all types of bad communication, information, discussions?

Take some time to do those things that bring joy to your heart, and if you can't actually do those things, then think about those things. Like a laughing child. A playful pet. Your devoted heavenly Savior.

Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

Tonight many will be joining in a celebration of the most powerful holiday of satan of the entire year. It is all fun and games you say?
What does the Word of God, the Bible, have to say about the world's traditions? When the children of Israel were going into the Promised Land they were admonished by Moses to walk in purity before God:
“When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not imitate the detestable customs of those nations. No one among you is to make his son or daughter pass through the fire, practice divination, tell fortunes, interpret omens, practice sorcery, cast spells, consult a medium or a familiar spirit, or inquire of the dead. Everyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and the LORD your God is driving out the nations before you because of these detestable things. You must be blameless before the LORD your God. Though these nations you are about to drive out listen to fortune-tellers and diviners, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do this.” (Deuteronomy 18:9-14)
The apostle Paul in the New Testament tells us how we ought to approach these challenges with these words in Romans 12:2:
“Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
"God, give us wisdom in this world where so many times the lines of right and wrong have become blurred.
Amen."

The Chaplains Corner

The Chaplains Corner

Guest blogger, Chaplain Paul, is one of the most effective chaplains in America today. He is an emergency responder to every situation.

Hey, this is the Chaplain again.

My wife Blossom and I went on a drive up in the hills above our city to see the fall colors; hoping the trees would be filled with yellow, gold, orange and red colored leaves. Sadly to say we were disappointed. Mostly we saw shades of brown. Someone said it was because we had such a dry and hot summer. I guess it takes a lot of moisture to bring out the full colors.

You know that’s true for our lives; we need the precious moisture of God to produce a life that is full of color and worth looking at. We must have the Living Water of the Spirit of God to bring out the fullness of life. How dry we are on the inside will greatly influence how attractive we are on the outside.

In the Gospel of John Jesus talks a lot about having that Godly Water.
“Have faith in me, and you will have life-giving water flowing from deep inside you."
And

“The water I give will be an artesian spring within, gushing fountains of endless life.”
Along with providing eternal life for us - that Water makes our lives appealing to other people. When our life is full of Jesus it is a life that attracts others. No Water, no life. Little Water, little life. Lots of Water, lots of Life. Jesus said, “I came to give life—life in all its fullness.”

A Hero of Mine!

One week ago yesterday xtnyoda was taken down at 55 mph while riding his bike by a deer.

xtnyoda is in the recuperation process and grateful to Yahweh the Almighty for giving xtnyoda the gift of life ... in spite of the deer.

Therefore .... in celebration of God's gift of another day ... I share this AP story today ... and salute the Python!

16-foot python found in Everglades had eaten deer

EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK, Fla. (AP) -- Officials in the Florida Everglades have captured and killed a 16-foot-long Burmese python that had just eaten an adult deer.

Scott Hardin, exotic species coordinator for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, says workers found the snake on Thursday. The reptile was one of the largest ever found in South Florida.

Hardin says the python had recently consumed a 76-pound female deer that had died. He says it was an important capture to help stop the spread of pythons further north.

Well done.

A friend, describing a person he had met the other day, said, “He looked like an ordinary person with good sense until he opened his mouth and started talking.” While he sort of meant it as a joke, there is a verse in the Bible that parallels what he was saying.
The writer of Proverbs 17:28puts it this way:
“Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise.”
"God, let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and redeemer. (Psalms 19:14)
Amen."

When we seek to win others to Christ, we must never think we possess any power in ourselves or lead others to believe we do through any air of superiority or lightness as we proclaim the Gospel. We would do well to heed the advice of Dr. Payson, who said, “Paint Jesus Christ upon your canvas, and then hold Him up to the people; but hold Him up so that not even your little finger can be seen.”
It is all about God receiving the glory He is due. The writer of John 3:30 says,
“He must increase, but I must decrease.”
"God, You are all in all.
Amen."

"To Rich"

Losing a child to death brings a myriad of emotions ... all complicated ... all different ... all difficult.

Tammy speaks today about ... learning to live ...

"To Rich, you don't ever "get over it" and people who say that have never lost someone who really mattered or they wouldn't say it. I've heard that a lot, but I have come to realize that you don't get over it, but you learn to live with it. Grieve for those you have lost, but we do need to live for those we haven't, no matter how much we hurt."
Tammy
Father, Yahweh, I pray today for Tammy, Rich, and all who have lost a child. I pray that each will find in You the determination to go ahead and live ... for themselves ... and those they love.

A lady went into a drugstore the other day and pointed to some toothbrushes on a rack. “Let me have a pink one,” she requested. To her surprise, the clerk took down an orange one. “No, pink,” she reminded him. This time he selected a lavender one. My friend began to sense the difficulty. “No, I said pink,” she repeated pleasantly; the clerk’s finger hovered uncertainly over the rack and neared the desired color. “That one,” she declared emphatically. “I see you’re color-blind,” she remarked as he wrapped her purchase.

With a sheepish smile he confessed, “I always call blue ‘green.’ ” But this same friend had a color-blind relative who doggedly insisted that certain colors were a figment of other people’s imaginations because he could not distinguish them. Do not be surprised when those who do not know God cannot accept as real the spiritual truths He has revealed through His Word. The “eyes of their understanding” have never been opened.
The apostle Paul tells us in Corinthians 2:12-14:
“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
"God, thank You for Your Holy Spirit and the discernment You give to us.
Amen."

A man prayed complainingly to Almighty God about a neighbor, saying, “O Lord, take away this wicked person.” And God said, “Which?”
In Romans 3:23 the apostle Paul reminds us,
“All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
To get rid of the wickedness, our prayer should mirror these words of the writer of Psalms 51:1-2 that says,
“Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy loving kindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.”
"God, help me to see sin as wicked as You do, especially mine.
Amen."

Counting "Real" Money (not good news)

The Borg Conspiracy has been doing a little home-work ... and what he has found about what we hold in "real money" is not good.

America leads in Gold Reserve

So.....even with gold approaching $2000 an ounce, we remain hopelessly in debt beyond our wildest dreams.

Rank Owner Tonnes Share of Foreign Reserves

Ranked #1 United States 8,133.5 78.3%

The United States holds the largest gold reserve in the world. With 8,133.5 tonnes, U.S. gold holdings are worth approximately $269.67 billion. This massive gold reserve represents about .9436 an ounce for every person living in the country.
Stop for a moment and think about the truth of scripture that states that the borrower is a servant to the lender.

Let me ask a question. How much real money do you possess?

Another question. How much debt do you possess?

Now ... what do you "own" and who "owns" you?

Food for thought. You need to find the answer to these questions, for, a collection day is coming, in this life.

U.S. Winter May Be Coldest in Decade, Commodity Weather Says

Bloomberg business is reporting forecasts of a colder-than-normal winter for the US. Good news for commodity traders ... bad news for average citizens and global warming alarmists.

By Brian K. Sullivan

Oct. 24 (Bloomberg) -- The coming U.S. winter may be the coldest in more than 10 years, Commodity Weather Group LLC said in its seasonal forecast.

Temperatures will range from 1 to 3 degrees Fahrenheit (0.5 to 1.7 Celsius) below normal across much of the U.S., according to the forecast. The period from November to March is expected to be 2.4 percent colder than last year, said Bethesda, Maryland-based CWG.

“This would be the coldest winter since 2000-01,” the company said.....

Do prepare for a harsh winter ... and don't miss the sight of Yahweh, once again, demonstrating that humanity cannot control itself ... let alone control the climate of the earth.

That song by James Rowe gives each of us the overwhelming sense that God loves us, and the note "even me," makes the message that much more special. How unique it is to know that God chose us in spite of the fact He knows all about us. Jesus in John 3:16 tells us,

In Sri Lanka divers go down to the ocean floor and scoop up mud to find the precious stones hidden there. These gems cannot be found on the beach but are found down in the ocean bed. All the secrets of God in nature have been wrested from Him by patient, painstaking investigation on the part of men.
It is important to take time to sift the words of God so to find the nuggets of wisdom He has left for us to live by. Let us live by the words of the writer of Psalms 119:140:
“Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.”
We must mine and refine His word that it might be profitable for us.

"Without worship, we go about miserable."
(A. W. Tozer)
When we look at faces in a crowd in the world today, we see anger, misery, pain, frustration, and less frequently we see a smile. The lack of smiles and friendly faces could be a symptom of the lack of worship.

Each of us has a void that can only be filled by a relationship with God and the worship which is the fruit of that relationship. That relationship should include both corporate worship as proclaimed by the writer of Psalms 122:1:
“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD”
and private worship as declared by the writer of Psalms 96:9 who said,
“Worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness; tremble before Him, all the earth.”
"God, let my joy reflect worship with You.

A little boy asked, “Why is it that when I open a marigold it dies, but if God does it, it’s so beautiful?” Before anyone could answer him, he said, “I know! It’s because God always works from the inside.” That’s God’s wise way of working with men—from the inside.
The works of our hands will never make us straight. Jesus tells us in John 3:3:

Death by Bureaucracy

Death Panel opens the door to the cancer that is the #1 cancer among men. Newt is trying to expose this effort by bureaucrats to lord it over our health care.

Earlier this month, a panel appointed by the Department of Health and Human Services made a recommendation so detached from the good of individual patients it could only have come from government bureaucrats. They recommended eliminating screening for the most common cancer among males nationwide.
......
Despite lacking any specialist who deals with the issue, the panel issued a recommendation this month to stop using the only available test to screen for prostate cancer. PSA tests .... Without the PSA testing, many men will have no way to know they have the disease until it has developed into much more dangerous problem. In some cases, it will be a too late by the time they discover it.

What is the basis for the panel’s recommendation to discontinue screening that can save lives?

It has nothing to do with the merits of the test. Instead, these government-appointed experts advised against screening because they disagree with what some doctors and patients choose to do with the information once they have it ..... the task force’s answer is simply to deny doctors and patients the chance to consider early treatment by recommending they not screen for prostate cancer in the first place.

That is not a reasoned response to the problem. It is a bureaucratic response to the problem. And people will almost certainly die because of it.

This points to the difference between the bureaucratic approach to healthcare, which leads to rationing, and an approach to empower individuals and their doctors to make the best decisions for them.....

You might want to go read the whole article when you have a couple of minutes.

“We have no more faith at any time than we have in the hour of trial. All that will not bear to be tested is mere carnal confidence.”
(C. H. Spurgeon)
It is easy to talk of faith when our feet are on solid ground; however, when it is time to step out of the boat or when we have had our legs knocked out from under us, the real test comes into play. The Lord speaks to us through the apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9:

In our challenges, our faith grows as we learn to trust Him.

A girl was asked what forgiveness is. She gave the following beautiful answer: “It is the odor the flowers give off when they are trampled upon.” For the merciful Christian, this odor reaches far, far away, even up to the judgment seat of Christ; the Christian need not be afraid when he gets there.
When pressure comes upon us, do we reflect a sweet savour of Christ living within us? Or, are we just stinkers like the rest of the world? The apostle Paul reminds us in Ephesians 2:10:
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
When we walk in these good works, we will be aware of far-reaching effects here and also in heaven.

The Chaplains Corner

The Chaplains Corner

Guest blogger, Chaplain Paul, is one of the most effective chaplains in America today. He is an emergency responder to every situation.

Hey, this is the Chaplain again.

You know I send out a lot of emails, most of them go through just fine. But every once in a while I get an error message that says: ‘Your message was rejected …’ or ‘Your message was blocked …’ That used to hurt my feelings a little; someone doesn’t want to hear from me. But I’ve decided that if that is how they feel, it’s their loss.

I also know that sometimes there are technical glitches, and sometimes people just get too much email to read it all. It’s a rare day for any of us that our access is not restricted in some way. Signs warn us: EMPLOYEES ONLY, DO NOT ENTER, NO TRESPASSING, AUTHORIZED VEHICLES ONLY. And if you’re like me you don’t like to be excluded or feel like you’re left out. None of us like to be told that we are not welcome. But the fact is that there will always be some places and some people that we will never be allowed to get close to. Walking up to visit with the President is something that I will probably never be allowed to do.

It makes me so grateful that God sets no restriction on who may come to Him. People that come to God never see a “Keep Out” sign. Through prayer, God the Father allows us immediate and unlimited access to Him because His Son, Jesus Christ has opened the door to all who have received Him.
“Now all of us can go to the Father through Christ.”
(Eph. 2:18)
Jesus said,
“Those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them.”
(Jn. 6:37)
‘Never reject them.’ He Will Never Reject You! Once you come to Christ for salvation, you can enjoy unrestricted fellowship. The door is always open. Your Prayer-Mails never bounce.

Many people turn denominational adjectives into nouns. Instead of saying, I am a Baptist Christian, a Presbyterian Christian, a Catholic Christian, or an Orthodox Christian, they say, I am a Baptist; I am a Presbyterian; I am a Catholic; I am Orthodox, and so on. This is a distortion of values, for being a Christian is the important thing, and what kind of Christian you call yourself is purely secondary.
Jesus tells us in John 14:6:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
What a valuable truth. We all have some quirks and major on different minors, but unless we have a relationship with the Father through a relationship with Jesus, nothing else matters.

"God, thank You for sending Your son Jesus to show us The Way.
Amen."

A heartwarming story from a cooling climate

Here is a truly courageous story brought about by a cooling planet.

Gutsy wrangler, huge horse save boy from grizzly

Why was the bear charging? Because unprecedented amounts of snow had covered its normal food sources. Video of the wrangler on David Letterman show.

hi,

On one of the latest shows with David Letterman there is a woman talking about how she and her horse rescued a small boy from a bear. There is a segment where she says that last winter there was a record number of human/bear encounters and when Letterman asks her why that was, she says something to the effect that there was record snow last winter and the bears couldn’t find enough food like berries in the forests so they would come out in greater numbers and approach people’s homes in search of food. (it’s at 3.45 that he poses the question.)

I found it interesting and it supports your theory. Of course David let it just pass and did not pick that up at all and moved on to the next question.

Thanks for all the postings and articles. I find your website very interesting and like checking on the latest ice age developments.

Leonardo da Vinci once took a friend of his to see his masterpiece of the “Last Supper.” The friend’s first comment was, “The most striking thing in the picture is the cup.” The artist immediately took his brush and wiped out the cup, saying, “Nothing in my painting shall attract more attention than the face of my Master.”
Likewise our lives should be lived to reflect the master living in us, but we must not in any way overshadow Him who is living in us. John 3:30 reminds us,
“He must increase, But I must decrease.”
"God, keep me from trying to take any of Your glory.
Amen."

"I remember telling them how he lived"

Losing a child to death brings a myriad of emotions ... all complicated ... all different ... all difficult.

Lori speaks today about ... privacy ...

"Like many before me, I don't remember any advice and to be honest I don't really think I was listening... but I do remember someone asked me how my son died and I remember telling them how he lived. His death is still a very private, devastating hurt."
Lori
Father, Yahweh, I pray today for Lori, and all who have lost a child. I pray that with each passing day the story of their living ... will help with the sense of loss and grieving.

Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

A prominent American who was visiting Argentina was asked by the president of the republic, “Why has South America gotten on so poorly and North America so well? What do you think is the reason?”

The visitor replied, “I think the reason is the fact that the Spaniards came to South America seeking gold, while the Pilgrim Fathers came to North America seeking God.”
That statement puts into perspective what Jesus said in Matthew 6:33:
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Not only is it interesting but also it is a blessing to see God’s promises confirmed so many times in history.

"God, thank You for pertinent advice You give us.
Amen."

“Who shoots at the midday sun, though he be sure he shall never hit the mark, yet as sure he is he shall shoot higher than he who aims at a bush.”
(Sir Philip Sidney)
The apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 3:23: “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” That statement is the truth, and it serves to humble us when we might otherwise get puffed up. Praise God, though, we can walk with Him, get closer to Him, and do not have to live so far from the mark. In Scripture we are told,
“If we confess our sin He is faithful and just to forgive out sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9)
"God, thank You for cleaning us up so we can fellowship with You.
Amen."

Gingrich's Upper-Cut is connecting

Gingrich is telling it like it is friends ... and exposing the damnable hypocrisy of politicians, policy drivers, and the economic dealers of our day ... that are subjugating people and trying to make it look like they are great souls in doing so.

The Emperor's New Clothes are being ripped away and the charade is being exposed for the demented evil that it truly is.

Gingrich on the Fed and assigning responsibility

Newt pulls no punches. He directs his fire with specificity and facts. An excerpt from the Dartmouth debate.
"Start with Barney Frank & Chris Dodd"

"Bernake has in secret spent hundreds of billions of dollars bailing out one group and not bailing out another group, I don't see anybody in the news media, demanding the kind of transparency at the Fed, that you would demand of every other aspect of the federal government and I think it is corrupt and it is wrong for one man to have that kind of secret power."

Yahweh, Day 219

Day 219

Yahweh

"I have spoken, I will do it."

"Then all the trees of the field will know that I am the Lord. I bring down the tall tree, and make the low tree tall. I cause the green tree to wither and make the withered tree thrive. I, Yahweh, have spoken and I will do [it]."
Ezekiel 17:24 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

For Yahweh to 'speak' is synonymous with Yahweh doing the thing that He has spoken. It may be instantly that He acts, or it may be 1000 years along in what we call the future, but make no mistake, it is done in the mind of Yahweh.

Yahweh has not limits of 'time' ... He sees the end from the beginning ... He dwells in eternity ... and eternity encompasses time like the ocean encompasses a ship.

As I said, for Yahweh to speak it ... means it is done ... even if it be 1000 years further in our future.

This is in The Name.

Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

A teenage girl, examining her grandmother’s wedding ring, said, “Wow, what heavy and cumbersome rings those were fifty years ago.” The grandmother replied, “That’s true, but don’t forget that in my day they were made to last a lifetime.”
My wife Reta and I celebrate our 38th anniversary today. When we began our journey in 1973, we set our sight on the goal of 50 years. We knew even then we were in it for the long haul, and what a trip it has been. The blessing is we have not been alone. We have had a host of friends, we were blessed with two daughters, five grandchildren and the assurance of God from the words of Jesus from Matthew 28:20 when He says,

“Lo, I am with you always , even to the end of the earth.”
"God, thank You for being with us each step of our journey.
Amen."

Miss you still

Losing a child to death brings a myriad of emotions ... all complicated ... all different ... all difficult.

Shirley speaks today about ... strength to face each day ...

"I had so many questions, why..where is she now, etc. I was told to go with one belief and stay with it. I chose God and heaven...she is with God. Having faith and knowing that God took our child home to be with him gave me the strength to face each day. Faith was my answer. Miss you still, Vicki."

“The real legacy of my life was my biggest failure—that I was an ex-convict. My greatest humiliation—being sent to prison—was the beginning of God’s greatest use of my life; He chose the one experience in which I could not glory for His glory.”
(Charles Colson)
The real beauty to me is that God knows every detail about our lives, even the shameful ones, and still loves us and wants a permanent relationship with us. The apostle Paul gives us a glimpse of the depth of God’s love with these words in Romans 5:8:
“God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us!”
"God, thank You for using our weakness to see Your majesty.
Amen."

Europe May be Facing Return Of ‘Little Ice Age’

Ice Age Now is running the story from Britain that is becoming harder and harder for the global warming alarmists to ignore ... things are getting colder and more difficult to manage.

Met Office – Europe May be Facing Return Of ‘Little Ice Age’
By Robert On October 9, 2011

“Britain should brace itself for another freezing winter with the return of La Niña,” says Jonathan Leake today in The Sunday Times.

Some suggest that last year’s icy winter in Britain – one of the coldest winters on record – was linked to the strong La Niña.

With La Niña now returning for the second year in a row, concerns are rising that last year’s miserable winter was just the beginning of an intolerably long series of such winters.

Research from the Met Office suggests that Europe could be facing a return of the “little ice age” that gripped Britain 300 years ago, causing decades of bitter winters, Leake warns.

The prediction, to be published in Nature, is based on observations of a slow-down in the sun’s emissions of ultraviolet radiation.

One man gets nothing but discord out of a piano; another gets harmony. No one claims the piano is at fault.
Life is about the same. The discord is there, but so is the harmony. If we study to play it correctly, it will give forth the beauty; if we play it falsely, it will give forth the ugliness. Life is not at fault. In the adversity, we must remember God is there to not take us out of the situation, but to be there with us and for us. These words of encouragement come from Hebrews 13:5-6:
“I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”
"God, thank You for Your Word and Your presence in all things.
Amen."

The Chaplains Corner

The Chaplains Corner

Guest blogger, Chaplain Paul, is one of the most effective chaplains in America today. He is an emergency responder to every situation.

Hey, this is the Chaplain again.

There was an old rundown building in our town; it had been vacant for a long time. Over the years it had really depreciated. Saturday morning some heavy equipment was unloaded and within a few minutes that old building was just a pile of rubble. Then the debris was loaded into dump trucks and it was gone. Now there’s just a vacant lot on that corner.

As I watched this process the Lord spoke to my spirit. He reminded me that a lot of people are like that old building. Over the years sin has left them vacant and dilapidated. Some people think that these empty lives are a lost cause; and sometimes they even believe that about themselves. But Jesus is not in the demolition business. The Bible says,
“There is now no condemnation for those who live in union with Christ Jesus.”
(Rom. 8:1)
and also,
“Whoever is a believer in Christ is a new creation.”
(2 Cor. 5:17)
Jesus, is in the renovation business. Everything becomes new when we let the Lord take over our lives.

How is it with you? Are you just waiting for the bull-dozer? It doesn’t have to be that way. God really does love you and He’s waiting for you to invite Him to renovate your life.

Freezing the EPA

The Washington Examiner is trying to get the word out about our cooling earth ... before it's too late to save millions of humans.

This report via Ice Age Now

Ice age threat should freeze EPA global warming regs
By: Shannon Goessling
Rather than spiraling into a global warming meltdown, we may be heading into the next ice age.

The U.S. National Solar Observatory, the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory and astrophysicists across the planet report that the nearly all-time low sunspot activity may result in a sustained cooling period on Earth.

The news has sent global warming theory advocates scrambling to discount and explain away the impact on global temperatures. However, the "news" is not really that new.

Many reputable scientists have been warning for decades that we are nearing the end of the 11,500-year average period between ice ages. And the last similar crash in sunspot activity coincided with the so-called "Little Ice Age" in the 1600s that lasted nearly a century.

Despite increasing evidence that "global warming" climate change is not the unified scientific theory it has been promoted to be, vested interests continue to push for stringent limits on carbon dioxide emissions.

Certain investment banks and trading houses that stand to make billions on so-called "carbon credits," and the environmental sociologists who have as a stated purpose to change our way of life, are a powerful bloc.

In the Obama administration, this cabal has a willing "big stick" in the form the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which has enacted draconian measures that will, by President Obama's admission, make energy costs "skyrocket."

The subject of intense litigation, the EPA regulations were enacted this year without congressional approval as required by the Clean Air Act and other laws. Estimates put the economic damage of these regulations at $1 trillion over the next 20 years, with a loss of between four and 10 million jobs.

Ironically, the current rush by global warming advocates to uncouple mounting evidence of global cooling from the global warming regime is not the first time they've backpedaled.

As referenced in ongoing litigation, the EPA admitted that generally applicable regulations would lead to "absurd" results, leading the agency to create a so-called "Tailoring Rule."

For example, global warming alarmists admit by their own calculations that reducing carbon emissions among a sample of large U.S. "emitters" to EPA-required levels might reduce the surface temperature by .00071 degree Celsius -- or 70 times lower than what is detectable.

Annual emission reductions sought would be replaced in 13 days by industrial growth in China. "Absurd" is understatement. So how do we handle "global cooling?"

In the 1970s and '80s, climatologists and astrophysicists were setting off alarms about pending global cooling and "the new ice age." Headlines in major weekly news magazines warned of a cooling catastrophe, with experts like famed astronomer Carl Sagan calling on industrialized countries to produce more carbon dioxide to offset the pending disaster.

High-level scientific proposals were advanced to redirect Arctic rivers, clear out swaths of high-density forests to release carbon dioxide, and even salt the Greenland ice caps with black carbon to attract sun melting in a global effort to stave off the impending ice age.

What happens during a "Little Ice Age?" Food-producing land becomes scarcer, food-growing seasons become shorter, and the world becomes a much more arid and less hospitable place. Think food shortages and the social unrest that follows.

The forces at work behind the global warming regulatory regime have, at worst, covered up, ignored and manipulated climate evidence to make the case that humans cause global warming and therefore humans should be punished.

At best, the mainstream scientific community is continuing to weigh the climate data as it becomes available. Caught in the flux are millions of Americans suffering under an economic tsunami that is anything but a theory.

The textbook definition of moving forward with global warming regulations is truly "absurd."

I know it gets old but ... are you listening?

Top 10 Ways Not To Hear From God

The following devotional is from "The Father's Business" via Jeremy.

1. Take no time for margins in your life. Fill your life with so much activity that there is no room to "Be still, cease striving, and know that I am God" (Ps 46:10). When we live in the tyranny of the urgent, we can be so busy that two-way conversation with God is not a priority.

2. Don't admit that you have any needs. Be so self-sufficient that you don't need a prayer base. We all need personal intercessors. Yet, as I ask most Christian leaders if they have a prayer base as a necessity of their life and ministry, they reply blankly, "Uh... no."

3. Respond to every need as if you are the only one who can fix it. Jesus did not respond to every need. From our people-pleasing natures, it is not easy to see that every need is not our call. Our valid call is only from God, not from the pleading voices around us.

4. Don't ask God any questions. People have questions, and they will look for the answers somewhere: psychics, self-help books, friends, talk-radio shows, the internet, etc. Only God is the source of eternal Truth. He is available for our questions, toll-free, unlimited access.

5. Be so exhausted that your physical, mental, and emotional fatigue cries out to be satisfied louder than the still, small voice of God. To hear from God, we must take adequate time off to get much-needed rest and refreshment. Burned out, we are no good to ourselves or anybody else, much less to God.

6. Completely ignore the Person and work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit speaks words of truth and comfort and enables us to grow in spiritual awareness. By slighting His work and failing to rely on Him, we short-change our ability to hear from God.

7. Insist that God must conform to your comfort zone. Be so comfortable that if God did speak, it would upset your status quo. Self-satisfaction kills our hunger to hear from God. So does lack of vision that there's more beyond where we are. When we are busy perpetuating a personal agenda, we will not hear the voice of God, especially if it means change.

8. Be religious. "Religion" is characterized by tunnel vision that thinks it has all the answers. Religion does not deepen us in the grace of God. Look at the Pharisees. They were preoccupied with keeping every jot and tittle of the law. Jesus called them whited sepulchres, full of dead men's bones. They kept a form of godliness and missed God walking among them. God calls us to cultivate a living relationship in intimacy with Him at all costs.

9. Be ignorant of the warfare. We must not see only the surface of things. We are not fighting flesh and blood but unseen spiritual battles (Eph 6:12-13). Paul instructed us not to wage war on the horizontal level as the world does. The informed and armed soldier overcomes everything that sets itself up against the righteousness, peace, and joy of the kingdom of God (2 Cor 10:3-5, Rom 14:17).

10. Tolerate unconfessed sin in your life. The psalmist said, "If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened" (Ps 66:18). Our sin and flesh must not be allowed to dominate so loudly that they drown out God. We must draw near God with a clean conscience (Heb 10:22).

Follow the example of Jesus, who often slipped away from the crowds to spend time with the quiet loving voice of his Father.

Thanks Jeremy!

“Every man dies-Not every man really lives.”
(William Ross Wallace)
Not only does Jesus provide the way for us to have eternal life, but also He provides the means by which we can enjoy life here on earth. The writer of John 10:10 records these words of Jesus:
“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
Praise God for life that is more than an existence.

"God, thank You for life here and hereafter.
Amen."

Climate sceptics are today's radical rebels

OK, the "scientific community" has determined that xtnyoda is really "co-mangon" in his evolutionary development.

The Publication called,Scientific American, has an article in which they quote from a scientific journal that has published a paper by McCright, and R.E. Dunlap, in which they have discovered that conservative, white, males are ... well ... a class of humans that just don't quite measure up to other ethnic and gender groups when it comes to accepting "global warming" as hands-down legitimate science.

Brendan O'Neill in The Australian starts the run-down for us. He is right on target.

by: Brendan O'Neill

EXPERTS continue to hunt for the psycho-social underpinnings of that alleged mental disorder, climate-change denialism. Unwilling to accept that climate-change scepticism is simply an idea, informed by analysis and ideology, green know-it-alls are always sniffing around for a pseudo-scientific explanation for this apparently unhinged outlook.....

How dare we question the establishments policies to do away with using earth's energy resources? Well, it's just in the "fact" that we haven't had to suffer as much as other groups ... so we don't want to change. And that's just for starters!

I am glad they have let us know what we are and how we think and why we think what we think. Thanks guys.

Go read the stuff when you want a good smile or two.
