Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill

“Short-term survival may depend on the knowledge of nuclear physicists and the performance of supersonic aircraft, but long-term survival depends alone on the character of man. We must remember that it was not the outer grandeur of the Roman but the inner simplicity of the Christian that lived on through the ages.” (Charles A. Lindberg)

The apostle Paul reminds us that we need to keep on keeping on. In Hebrews 12:1 he says, “Let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”

God, give us the vision of the victory and the strength and focus to finish strong. Amen.

Alexander the Great subdued the world about him, but he was conquered by his own lusts; he died in a drunken stupor.

We must be careful not to let our own lusts become our own downfall. The apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 8:37, “We are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ our  Lord.”

God, Help us to bring into subjection our thoughts words and deeds. Amen.

“The special person called to do missionary work is every person who is a member of the church of Christ. The call does not come to a chosen few; it is to every one of us” (Oswald Chambers 1874–1917).

Each of us has a calling that only we can fulfill. Each of us has the responsibility and privilege to serve God in the capacity for which He created us.  The writer of Psalms 139:14 reminds us of how special we are with these words: “I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

God, thank You for the trust You have in us to accomplish Your will. Amen.

Yahweh, Day 293

Day 293
Yahweh: To Stand In The Name

Micah 5:4-5
“He will stand and shepherd them in the strength of Yahweh,
in the majestic name of Yahweh His God.
They will live securely, for then His greatness will extend
to the ends of the earth. He will be their peace…”

This is an obvious prophecy concerning the coming of the Messiah, fulfilled in Jesus.

“He will stand…”  We think of this as someone that stands their ground, taking a stand through personal resolve.  This is exactly that which Jesus did on Calvary, He took His stand as the Good Shepherd laying down His life for His sheep.

This, is in The Name.

Yahweh, Day 292

   Day 292
Yahweh: To Walk In The Name

Micah 4:5 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
“Though all the peoples each walk
in the name of their gods,
we will walk in the name of Yahweh  our God
forever and ever.”

From the world view of the biblical mind, to walk in the name of God was paramount to walking with God.  In Genesis 3:8 we have the blessed account of the voice of God walking in the cool of the day with Adam and Eve.  Then the tragedy struck and Adam and Eve were driven from the garden, driven from the presence of God.

Since then, God has been moving to restore that relationship with mankind.  Jesus came to restore.  The Holy Spirit has been sent to dwell in the heart and life of the believer.  By the great working of God, we may once again walk in The Name, forever and ever.

This, is in The Name.

I moved out!

Losing a child to death brings a myriad of emotions ...
all complicated ... all different ... all difficult.

Lisa speaks today about .. thoughtlessness

"We had a private memorial for my son at home instead of an expensive funeral. (he was cremated). Well right before the service began, there was a knock at the door. It was my landlord, i said "oh, hi come on in". He said, i don't need to come in i just need my rent $....I MOVED OUT!!!!"
Lisa

Father, Yahweh, I pray today for Lisa, and all who have lost a child.  I pray that Your love will carry them through thoughtless events from others.

Father, bless them today.

Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill

William Allen White, a famous newspaper editor in Emporia, Kansas, once gave a 50-acre tract of land to the city for a park. At the dedication, he made the strange statement: "There are three kicks in every dollar.” He explained, “One kick is when you make it—and how I love to make a dollar! One is when you save it—and I have the Yankee lust for saving. The third kick is when you give it away—and the biggest kick of all is the last one.”

Mr. White seems to have discovered what Jesus taught 20 centuries earlier: “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).

As we have been so blessed, we find it a greater blessing to be able to share with others.

God, thank You for blessing us enough to share. Amen.
