Day 92

Yahweh

Step-Parents Day

Sing to God! Sing praises to His name.
Exalt Him who rides on the clouds—
His name is Yahweh — and rejoice before Him.

5 A father of the fatherless
and a champion of widows
is God in His holy dwelling.

6 God provides homes for those who are deserted.
He leads out the prisoners to prosperity...

Psalm 68:4-6 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

We celebrate Father's and Mother's day... and rightly so... but there is another focus that we should begin to celebrate... Step-Parent's Day.

The place of being a step-parent is often looked upon as some necessarily evil and difficult position... and though it may be a 'difficult' position.... it should not be seen as an evil position.

Verse 5 above: "A father of the fatherless..." if you will think for a moment... speaks to the taking up the mantle of a 'step-parent'... a role that Yahweh personally embraces...

"Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord cares for me."
Psalm 27:10 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

Think about this for a moment... God embraces the position of a step-parent... should we not rethink some of our attitudes toward those that will step into a single parent's life... and cherish that single parent's child/children?

It is a very Godly place.

Wednesday, June 30th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

“Be simple; take our Lord’s hand and walk through things.”
(Father Andrew)

Too many times we try to complicate the instructions and the process becomes difficult. Remember the simple commands Jesus gave to His disciples in Luke 5:27... then and now:
“Follow me.”
When we get our lives in order, when we walk the walk of faith, further directions will be forthcoming. We must wait on the Lord.

"God, help me to follow Your directions as stated.
Amen."

Now.... talk about trying to find the silver lining in the brewing storm clouds for the progressives....

.... this is really working hard at finding the silver lining in the SCOTUS's decision yesterday to uphold the second amendment for legal Americans.

Politico
Democrats quietly cheer high court gun ruling

When the Supreme Court extended the individual right to own a gun Monday, it handed Second Amendment advocates — many of whom are at home in the GOP — one of their most significant legal victories ever.

But who won the day in politics? The Democrats.

For them, the court’s groundbreaking decision couldn’t have been more beneficial to the cause in November. Now, Democratic candidates across the map figure they have one less issue to worry about on the campaign trail. And they won’t have to defend Republican attacks over gun rights and an angry, energized base of gun owners.

“It removes guns as a political issue because everyone now agrees that the Second Amendment is an individual right, and everybody agrees that it’s subject to regulation,” said Lanae Erickson, deputy director of the culture program at centrist think tank Third Way....

I suppose we can give them their little sigh of relief... we'll take the 2nd Amendment.

Day 91

Yahweh

Our God of Justice

Sing to God! Sing praises to His name.
Exalt Him who rides on the clouds—
His name is Yahweh — and rejoice before Him.

5 A father of the fatherless
and a champion of widows
is God in His holy dwelling.

6 God provides homes for those who are deserted.
He leads out the prisoners to prosperity...

Psalm 68:4-6 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

Yahweh's retribution against sin is the usual understanding of the function of God's Justice... however... if we are to be scriptural... we must see that in the Old Testament God's movement of His Justice was more often in His response to the afflicted, downtrodden, abandoned... the weaker party was and is always His concern.

If we do not recognize this characteristic of God moving in Justice... and His demand that we do the same... we will maintain a very distorted image of our Yahweh... to our discredit... and Yahweh's great displeasure.

God's 'judgments' against Israel were far more in regard to Israel 'perverting' justice toward the weaker, wounded party... than any other overt sin.

"You wicked people! You twist justice, making it a bitter pill for the poor and oppressed. Righteousness and fair play are meaningless fictions to you."
Amos 5:7 (New Living Translation)
It is in The Name.

Paul Joseph Watson & Alex Jones are revealing a great deal of 'light' on the government's current efforts to control the free flow of information over the internet.

The Fed's want to mimic control of the internet in the same way as Communist China? And the article goes on to demonstrate how Communist China has shutdown/limited access to the internet during times of civil unrest... unrest brought about by the actions of the Communist Chinese government.

Infowars article
Cybersecurity Measures Will Mandate Government “ID Tokens” To Use The Internet

The move to shut down and regulate the Internet under a new government-controlled system has accelerated into high gear with the announcement that the government’s cybersecurity strategy revolves around issuing Internet users with ID “tokens” without which they will not be able to visit websites, the latest salvo against web freedom which, in combination with Senator Joe Lieberman’s ‘kill switch’ bill, will serve to eviscerate the free Internet as we know it.

Under the guise of “cybersecurity,” the government is moving to discredit and shut down the existing Internet infrastructure in the pursuit of a new, centralized, regulated world wide web.

It is important to stress that “cybersecurity” has nothing to do with protecting the infrastructure of the United States and everything to do with taking over the Internet. Cybersecurity is about attacking non-compliant Internet users, not defending against hackers. Non-compliance equates as using the Internet as a political tool to dissent against the policies of the U.S. government....

... The true nature of the cybersecurity agenda was revealed when Lieberman told CNN’s Candy Crowley that his... legislation was part of an effort to mimic China’s control of the Internet.

“Right now China, the government, can disconnect parts of its Internet in case of war and we need to have that here too,” said Lieberman.

The Senator’s reference to China is a telling revelation of what the cybersecurity agenda is really all about. China’s vice-like grip over its Internet systems has very little to do with “war” and everything to do with silencing all dissent against the state.

Chinese Internet censorship is imposed via a centralized government blacklist of any websites that contain criticism of the state, porn, or any other content deemed unsuitable by the authorities. Every time you attempt to visit a website, you are re-routed through the government firewall, often making for long delays and crippling speeds.

China has exercised its power to shut down the Internet, something that Lieberman wants to introduce in the U.S., at politically sensitive times in order to stem the flow of information about government abuse and atrocities. During the anti-government riots which occurred in July 2009, the Chinese government completely shut down the Internet across the entire northwestern region of Xinjiang for days. Similarly, Internet access in parts of Tibet is routinely restricted as part of government efforts to pre-empt and neutralize unrest.

Major websites like Twitter, Google and You Tube have also been shut down either temporarily or permanently by Chinese authorities....

Now... why would our government want to control the free flow of information over the internet?

Consider and ponder.

“Those who wish to sing always find a song.”
(Unknown)

Whether we always have a song in our hearts, a word of praise on the tips of our tongues, or the bitterness of griping and complaining in our attitudes, who we are always shines through. Let "our" songs, our praises shine forth. We must season our world in a positive way so to temper the negative everyone sees daily. To keep us on track and to guide us in a positive attitude, we must remember the words of the writer of Proverbs 13:15:
“A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance.”
"God, let my joy from You show forth daily.
Amen."

From our newest guest blogger, Stan Nussbaum, comes this encouraging and challenging word about making a difference.

June 27 – Power to make a difference
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has appointed me to preach Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the downtrodden will be freed from their oppressors, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come." Lk. 4:18-19 (NLT)

The world is full of young people who want to make a difference and older people who have given up on that idea because it did not work out for them. Our idealistic Boomer generation thought it had rocked the world in the 60s but now we see that the more things change, the more they stay the same. Wars are no less common, poverty is undented, big companies get away with murder, and politics has a bad name. In light of this, our generation has “matured,” lowered its expectations, and mostly resigned itself to the goal of making a living.

Since so many people either want to make a difference or are a bit sad they were not able to, this should be an easy world to evangelize. The Messiah has exactly what people are looking for and can’t find elsewhere—the power to make the difference they want to make in the world. They ought to be fabulously excited about Jesus because he came to make a difference in the world too.

In fact, they are not excited at all. People are leaving the Church in droves, especially the young people, perhaps because my generation gave them the impression that the Messiah was in the “ticket-to-heaven” business instead of the “making-a-difference-on-earth” business. Actually he is in both, but he had a lot more to say about the earth business.

The messianic announcement is all about the earth business, bringing good news to the poor, the captives (or the enslaved), the disabled, the oppressed. The news is not that all these people will get tickets to heaven. It is that “the time of the Lord’s favor has come,” that is, Jesus is going to make a difference in their lives inside and out. He will change their outlooks and their circumstances.

Pentecost also is all about the here and now. Would we really have needed Pentecost at all if we were in the ticket-to-heaven business? I doubt it. The cross and the resurrection were known before Pentecost, and they would have been all we needed in order to explain sin, forgiveness, and going to heaven. Why an outpouring of spiritual power with visible physical effects? Because the Messiah did not want his followers just to pass out tickets until he comes back. He wanted them to give heaven a ticket to earth!

That is what we do when we give ourselves and our bodies to him. His Holy Spirit does not live on mountaintops, in volcanoes or trees or rivers or birds or animals or statues. The Spirit lives in human beings who welcome and honor Jesus. He comes from heaven and he brings heaven’s power along with him, putting it into these people so they can make the difference Jesus wants them to make. Jesus’ plan for the world is not on hold. He is aggressively pursuing it right now.

As we saw last week, now that the Spirit lives in us, things we thought were too big, too complex, too deep, or too painful ever to change are actually changing. And as that power changes our own “unchangeables,” we are empowered to make a difference in other people’s lives. The heaven in us shines out, spills out, or at least leaks out now and then, and every time it does, it makes a difference, just like the Messiah himself planned it.
Welcome: Welcome back to earth, Jesus. Put heaven into us by your Spirit and make the difference you want to make in our world.

Affirmation: The best way to make a difference in the world is to let the Messiah make his difference in us, showing the world what his presence does to people.

“The snake pulled back the curtain to the throne room and invited Eve to take a seat. Put on the crown. Pick up the scepter. Put on the cape. See how it feels to have power. Day 89

Yahweh

Allows One To Be... Ridiculous.

But Elisha said, "As the Lord lives, I stand before Him. I will not accept it." Naaman urged him to accept it, but he refused. Naaman responded, "If not, please let two mule-loads of dirt be given to your servant, for your servant will no longer offer a burnt offering or a sacrifice to any other god but Yahweh.
2Kings 5:16-17 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

Now Naaman vows to worship no other god than Yahweh... yet... in the same breath follows with an admission that he is going to continue worshiping with his king at the Temple of Rimmon...
"... However, in a particular matter may the Lord pardon your servant: When my master, [the king of Aram], goes into the temple of Rimmon to worship and I, as his right-hand man, bow in the temple of Rimmon-when I bow in the temple of Rimmon, may the Lord pardon your servant in this matter." So he said to him, "Go in peace."...
2Kings 5:18-19 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

... So...
*First Naaman tries to dictate to Elisha...

*Then he tries to buy Elisha...

*Then he tries to influence Elisha by some material presence...

*Now he feigns to vow total allegiance to Elisha's God, Yahweh...

*Followed with an immediate admission that he will continue worshiping the wretched idol of Rimmon...

One can almost hear the total exasperation in Elisha's voice as he replies, "Go in peace."

I think Elisha is saying... "Would you please get out of here and stop this ridiculous charade!"

It was... the last time they would ever meet.

Sunday, June 27th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

Dr. Wilfred Funk, the well-known dictionary publisher, was asked to select the ten most expressive words in the English language. Here is the list:
• the most bitter word—alone
• the most tragic—death
• the most reverent—mother
• the most beautiful—love
• the most cruel—revenge
• the most peaceful—tranquil
• the saddest—forgotten
• the warmest—friendship
• the coldest—no
• the most comforting—faith

Some of the most comforting words to me are the words of Jesus in John 11:8 to the woman caught in the act of adultery,
“Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”
Rejoice in these words and Praise god for His forgiveness.
"God, Thank You for Your love and forgiveness.
Amen."

Day 88

Yahweh

It's His Dirt

But Elisha said, "As the Lord lives, I stand before Him. I will not accept it." Naaman urged him to accept it, but he refused. Naaman responded, "If not, please let two mule-loads of dirt be given to your servant, for your servant will no longer offer a burnt offering or a sacrifice to any other god but Yahweh.
2Kings 5:16-17 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

Another Eastern/Oriental effort to maintain control of a person is to 'plant' some piece of property on or near the person one is trying to control. Naaman, by desiring to place two donkey laden bags of dirt, is in essence attempting to place a permanent reminder of himself in the presence of the prophet... and thereby God.

This is another effort to control God... the only problem for Naaman... and all mankind... is that the dirt is God's to begin with.

Yahweh will not be controlled by what is already His.

It's in The Name.

Saturday, June 26th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

When someone asked St. Francis of Assisi why and how he could accomplish so much, he replied, “This may be why.

The Lord looked down from heaven upon the earth and said, "Where can I find the weakest, the littlest, the meanest man on the face of the earth?’ Then He saw me and said, 'Now I’ve found him, and I will work through him. He won’t be proud of it. He’ll see that I’m only using him because of his littleness and insignificance.'"
When we get out of the way, God is able to shine. Jesus told us this in Mark 9:35:
“If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.”

"God, let me hide myself in Thee.
Amen."

We have a few ladies on mission in an undisclosed and difficult area... they are ministering to families of underground missionaries... esp. their children.

How serious is the secrecy of this report? Let me put it this way... the children of these 300 missionaries being ministered to... have NO IDEA... that their parents are... missionaries.

I've received the following e-mail from one of our ladies. I have of course had to edit the message to post here... but thought some might benefit from reading it in general.

Thought I would give you my quickest version of some big news.

Monday we really started real work. which is what, amazingly enough, we've all been anxious for. The Missionaries did their best to entertain us for a few days as though we needed an incentive to work with them this week. I thought it was probably just me who was ready to end the fun and start the job, but in our meeting that morning it was quickly apparent that we were tired of "tasting the local cuisine (which really isn't that bad)" and we were ready to "feast on the work of the Lord.” Anyway. I could talk for hours about that morning alone. The hard/easy part came that night.

We went into a quick meeting with all of them (the only one we're aloud into for the week). And even though it was kept light hearted, there was no hiding the fact that the past year had been really really hard for these guys. The company’s been going through a reorganization and most of them feel like the rug's been pulled out from under them.

We’d heard all day about these sad stories of poor living conditions and life threats and persecutions they live in. It was sad to think about people being here, isolated, barely any amenities and barely any communication in some places. And here they were... all the unnamed heroes who are really risking their lives and sacrificing SOOO much to live in shit holes and be basically forgotten about by thousands and thousands and thousands of people. All to maybe.. just maybe... be able to gain enough trust to tell someone about Jesus with without being murdered, kicked out of the country, or thrown in jail.

It was so so so powerful to just be in the room with them and have them mention here's and there's about their lives like there was nothing to it.

At the meeting that morning with the volunteers, the guy in charge was giving us some quick facts and figures about the situation of these people that were to join us later on and he mentioned one person in particular who lived in $*$#&*$. $*$#&*$ is an Island that has experienced earthquakes and is a few Islands from here. He mentioned that $*$#&*$ was the single most closed Island in the region.

It is dangerous if you are found out. Anything but Islam is NOT allowed, and this year they had a connection that led to a salvation and it was a miraculous moment. ONE salvation. Thousands of people on this Island. Only 4 salvations on it EVER. and one happened this year. and this guy is here somewhere. anyway... just giving you an idea about $*$#&*$. Major persecution for Christians.

Monday night in the meeting he had the groups serving in certain regions stand, as a whole. That was pretty sweet. He called out the Philippines, and 5 or 6 stood and sat. Then went on.. so and so region (a few people would stand) and so and so region (a few more)... then he called $*$#&*$ (I got excited to see this guy) and TWO WHOLE ROWS of people stood up. Almost 25 M’s! and every other M in the room started clapping and cheering for them. and it took all I had not to just bawl. I've only been that choked up a few times in my life.

To think that, THAT many people were willing to go into that kind of darkness. Just for a chance... not a good one either. It was.. indescribable. Then we watched a video with different pictures of the different M's and the areas their serving in and it just showed then in action with their everyday lives. It should have been horribly sad, to see these warriors for Christ, not with a bible in their hands or praying over people, but working as teachers or in a bike shop or a boat rental store having to hide their faith while they try to build connections....

Anyway, I'm rambling, the point. This whole trip, especially today, and most definitely tonight I had this feeling and I can only think of one way to explain it. You know when something just feels like home, or just feels right. Like when you’re kids are safely in bed or like certain relationships with people? Like you look at something in your life and hear God say "Yes" and immediate peace comes over You. That's what I felt that night.... Thinking "Why am I here? I was not made to be like this.. this is not purpose.... is it?" And there it was. "Yes" and a peace I can't ever, ever explain.

Now obviously I have no idea where or when or even IF. But I have never felt that I was meant to serve over seas, separated from my world, like this until now. And it's over powering, but its beautiful and it's peaceful. Can't define it. Can't contain it. Can't Explain it. Shalom.

Part Two: Bob Reeling has asked me to share my Testimony with all of these Missionaries and their families in our final Service Sunday night as an inspiration for them. Well, he asked me to pray about it (he knows this scares me). Sadly, however, I know it is something I am supposed to do. So I ask that you and Mrs. XtnYoda keep me (all of us) in your prayers. For wisdom of words and strength to say them without crying them all out. lol.

Anyway, we miss you guys and I thought you'd like to know. See you soon.

Always,

His Servant

Please know, His Servant... you are covered.

Day 87

Yahweh

His Favor is Not For Sale

But Elisha said, "As the Lord lives, I stand before Him. I will not accept it." Naaman urged him to accept it, but he refused. Naaman responded, "If not, please let two mule-loads of dirt be given to your servant, for your servant will no longer offer a burnt offering or a sacrifice to any other god but Yahweh.
2Kings 5:16-17 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

It is normal for humans to desire to 'purchase' the favor of Yahweh through 'gifts' to the man of God. Elisha was of course aware of this effort to attempt to control Yahweh through giving gifts to God's spokesman.

Yahweh will not be bought... and neither shall His spokesmen.

There shall be not 'pork-barrel' politics in God's Kingdom.

Woman Claims 'Unwanted Sexual Contact' With Gore; No Charges Filed

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Portland police say they investigated allegations that former Vice President Al Gore had "unwanted sexual contact" with a massage therapist during an October 2006 visit, but they found insufficient evidence to support the woman's claims.

Multnomah County District Attorney Michael Schrunk said Wednesday an attorney representing the woman contacted police in late 2006. Schrunk said the woman refused to be interviewed by detectives and didn't want the investigation to continue.

But the woman contacted police in January 2009 and gave a statement, saying Gore tried to have sex with her during a massage appointment at the upscale downtown Hotel Lucia. Gore reportedly was registered at the hotel as "Mr. Stone."

Gore family spokeswoman Kalee Kreider said the former vice president had no comment. ....

On The Mark is on the mark again with this follow-up video to the video of Sen. Kyl stating that the president of the US told him that in order for the president to secure the border the president would first have to secure immigration reform... which is as crooked as politics can get.

On The Mark has an encouraging and informative piece about the gospel spreading throughout the Muslim world.

World Net Daily: The Caliphate versus the Kingdom of God
The Caliphate versus the Kingdom of God

Today, throughout the Islamic world, there are thousands of Christian evangelists who are not only bold and fearless, but also well equipped to debate any Muslim takers. Many of these Christians are themselves former Muslims. In recent years, a Christian Arabic television show called "Truth Talk" has drawn millions of Muslim viewers to watch as host Zakariah Boutros deconstructs the case for Islam and shows the superiority of the case for Christianity. Muslims regularly call into the show to convert to Christianity live on the air. Throughout the Middle East, there is now a growing sense, among both the Christian and Muslims communities, that intellectually, morally and theologically, Islam is bankrupt. And as a result, Christian missionaries are seeing more Muslims convert to Christianity now than at any other time in history.

The second relevant element to this equation is that despite the inability of democracy to fully counteract the vision of Islam, there is another ancient and vastly comprehensive vision that can and will defeat the Islamist vision of the Caliphate. It is called the Kingdom of God. Some call it "the Messianic age," others "the Millennium," but it is the central message declared by all of the prophets and apostles. In the New Testament, the message is called "the good news" or "gospel." In referring to the message that Jesus proclaimed, it is said that he preached the "good news of the kingdom of God."....

I've heard similar reports for a number of years now and personally know one brother that works in those areas and keeps me informed as to what directions he sees Yahweh moving in the Arab world as well.

We can pray for a continued awakening among the Islamic peoples... that the Spirit of God would move mightily over the 10/20 region of our world... for the Glory of His Name, the purpose of His Kingdom, and the execution of His Will on earth as in heaven.

When it all comes down to the absolute essential element driving the current conflict civilization now faces on this globe... it is in this question... "What is God's Name?"

This is the reason for which I write.

At the end of every day, the unseen guest in our home knows our actions and our reactions. We must learn in all situations that we are watched by an impartial witness. Now battle lines are being drawn between a Federal Judge and the White House... the Federal Judge ruling that for the White House to shut down the industry of an entire region the White House needs something more than the personal opinion of the president to enact such a drastic measure.... in other words... a federal judge has decided that the president isn't quite at the vaulted level of 'dictator' just yet.

Yahoo news report
Judge blocks Gulf offshore drilling moratorium

NEW ORLEANS – A federal judge struck down the Obama administration's six-month ban on deepwater oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday, saying the government rashly concluded that because one rig failed, the others are in immediate danger, too.

The White House promised an immediate appeal. The Interior Department had halted approval of any new permits for deepwater drilling and suspended drilling of 33 exploratory wells in the Gulf.

Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said President Barack Obama believes strongly that drilling at such depths does not make sense and puts the safety of workers "at a danger that the president does not believe we can afford."

Several companies that ferry people and supplies and provide other services to offshore drilling rigs asked U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman in New Orleans to overturn the moratorium.

They argued it was arbitrarily imposed after the April 20 explosion on the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig that killed 11 workers and blew out the well 5,000 feet underwater. It has spewed anywhere from 67 million to 127 million gallons of oil into the Gulf.

Feldman sided with the companies, saying in his ruling the Interior Department assumed that because one rig failed, all companies and rigs doing deepwater drilling pose an imminent danger.

"The Deepwater Horizon oil spill is an unprecedented, sad, ugly and inhuman disaster," he wrote. "What seems clear is that the federal government has been pressed by what happened on the Deepwater Horizon into an otherwise sweeping confirmation that all Gulf deepwater drilling activities put us all in a universal threat of irreparable harm."

His ruling prohibits federal officials from enforcing the moratorium until a trial is held. He did not set a trial date.....

Anyone want to wager that this judge won't be recommended for a spot on the SCOTUS while the current administration is in the White House?

But Naaman got angry and left, saying, "I was telling myself: He will surely come out, stand and call on the name of Yahweh his God, and will wave his hand over the spot and cure the skin disease.

Many people... When coming to the servant of God... Come to force upon God their self will... instead of seeking Yahweh's personal will... It comes as a shock to many that God might actually have His own opinion.

"Salt in a saltshaker is worthless. Its value comes when it is poured out of the saltshaker."
(Arron Chambers)

The above quotation puts a whole new view on Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:13: “Ye are the salt of the earth.” In other words, this message tells us to live our lives in such a manner as to impact others with the love of Christ.

"God, let us season the world with Your love.
Amen."

Arizona Senator Kyl reveals an absolutely shocking exchange that he personally had with the President of the US. This is... remarkable... in the worst sense of the word.

Human Events post
Video - Sen. Kyl: 'Obama Says No Border Security without Amnesty' (by Connie Hair)

In a stunning revelation at an Arizona town hall meeting this past Friday, Republican Senator Jon Kyl told his constituents that President Obama privately insisted that he will not secure the border until amnesty for illegal aliens passes first....

Transcript (at 3:21): SEN. JON KYL:
I met with the president in the Oval Office, just the two of us… Here’s what the president said. “The problem is,” he said, "If we secure the border, then you all won’t have any reason to support comprehensive immigration reform.”

[gasps from the audience]

KYL: In other words they’re holding it hostage. They don’t want to secure the border unless and until it is combined with comprehensive immigration reform. I explained, “You and I have an obligation to secure the border. That’s an obligation. It also has some potentially positive benefits. You don’t have to have comprehensive immigration to secure the border, but you have to have a secure border to get comprehensive immigration reform. You may be surprised, maybe you don’t think that there’d be any more incentive, but I’m not so sure that that’s true. In any event, it doesn’t matter we’re supposed to secure the border.”

That’s why this is being done. They want to get something in return for doing their duty. And that’s—

AUDIENCE MEMBER: Chicago politics.

KYL: Yeah.

If this exchange is truly accurate from this US Senator... it smacks of the worst of "boot heel" politics... at the expense of the citizens and sovereignty of our nation's borders. The "boot heel" applied to our citizens for political advantage.

Consider and ponder.

xtnyoda brought up the basic problem in providing material and 'humanitarian' aid to terrorist groups in this article about the International Red Cross providing medical aid and training to a terrorist group.

Now... the US Supreme Court does the same.

Weekly Standard article
SCOTUS Backs Israel
Court rules "material support" for terrorists includes legal advice, 'humanitarian' aid.
BY John McCormack

Elliott Abrams writes:

Fresh on the heels of the world’s condemnation of Israel for blocking a convoy bringing aid to Hamas-ruled Gaza comes the United States Supreme Court’s statement of support…for Israel.

Today in the case called Holder vs. Humanitarian Law Project, according to the Associated Press:
“The Supreme Court upheld a federal law that bars 'material support' to foreign terrorist organizations, rejecting a free speech challenge from humanitarian aid groups. The court ruled 6-3 Monday that the government may prohibit all forms of aid to designated terrorist groups, even if the support consists of training and advice about entirely peaceful and legal activities. Material support intended even for benign purposes can help a terrorist group in other ways, Chief Justice John Roberts said in his majority opinion. 'Such support frees up other resources within the organization that may be put to violent ends,' Roberts said.”

What form of aid was barred? Says the AP story, “The aid groups involved had trained a Kurdish group in Turkey on how to bring human rights complaints to the United Nations and assisted them in peace negotiations….” Even this indirect support for acts of terror was unlawful, the Court concluded—with John Paul Stevens and Anthony Kennedy joining this view. As Chief Justice Roberts explained, such support “also importantly helps lend legitimacy to foreign terrorist groups—legitimacy that makes it easier for those groups to persist, to recruit members, and to raise funds—all of which facilitate more terrorist attacks.”

Americans inclined to think Israel has gone overboard in stopping flotillas from landing in Gaza might think again.

Roberts and the majority are very tough in rejecting the view proffered by Justice Breyer. Roberts writes that:
"the dissent fails to address the real dangers at stake. It instead considers only the possible benefits of plaintiffs’ proposed activities in the abstract…. The dissent seems unwilling to entertain the prospect that training and advising a designated foreign terrorist organization on how to take advantage of international entities might benefit that organization in a way that facilitates its terrorist activities. In the dissent’s world, such training is all to the good. Congress and the Executive, however, have concluded that we live in a different world: one in which the designated foreign terrorist organizations 'are so tainted by their criminal conduct that any contribution to such an organization facilitates that conduct.' [Roberts is quoting the relevant statute.] One in which, for example, 'the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was forced to close a Kurdish refugee camp in northern Iraq because the camp had come under the control of the PKK, and the PKK had failed to respect its "neutral and humanitarian nature."' [Roberts is quoting the State Department Affidavit.] Training and advice on how to work with the United Nations could readily have helped the PKK in its efforts to use the United Nations camp as a base for terrorist activities."

"If only good can come from training our adversaries in international dispute resolution, presumably it would have been unconstitutional to prevent American citizens from training the Japanese Government on using international organizations and mechanisms to resolve disputes during World War II. It would, under the dissent’s reasoning, have been contrary to our commitment to resolving disputes through 'deliberative forces,' post, at 13 (quoting Whitney v. California, 274 U. S. 357, 375 (1927) (Brandeis, J., concurring)), for Congress to conclude that assisting Japan on that front might facilitate its war effort more generally. That view is not one the First Amendment requires us to embrace."

Today the Court embraced reality in the fight against terror and soundly rejected “lawfare,” the effort to read anti-terror statutes in ways that permit aid to terrorist groups.

The news today concerning the escalating conflict over Israel is sounding rather biblical in many ways...

Egypt refusing to bar Iranian ships from passing through the Suez Canal to head toward Gaza... yet now Egypt allows both American AND an Israeli ship to pass through the Canal reminds one of King Ahasuerus' dilemma... he had already ordered the destruction of the Jews due to Haman's trickery.... now the King has discovered the deceit... yet the King cannot retract his order for the Jews annihilation... HOWEVER... the King can and does issue a new order across the nation that gives the Jews the right and warning to defend themselves and permission to destroy their enemies.

That was the end of the hostilities.

Egypt has in effect given Israel and America permission to use the Suez Canal to attack Iran even though Egypt won't keep Iran out of the Canal.

Esther 8:11
"The king's edict gave the Jews in each and every city the right to assemble and defend themselves, to destroy, kill, and annihilate every ethnic and provincial army hostile to them..." (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

Israel National News
US, Israel Warships in Suez May Be Prelude to Faceoff with Iran

Egypt allowed at least one Israeli and 11 American warships to pass through the Suez Canal as an Iranian flotilla approaches Gaza. Egypt closed the canal to protect the ships with thousands of soldiers, according to the British-based Arabic language newspaper Al Quds al-Arabi.

One day prior to the report on Saturday, Voice of Israel government radio reported that the Egyptian government denied an Israeli request not to allow the Iranian flotilla to use the Suez Canal to reach Gaza,
in violation of the Israeli sea embargo on the Hamas-controlled area.

International agreements require Egypt to keep the Suez open even for warships, but the armada, led by the USS Truman with 5,000 sailors and marines, was the largest in years. Egypt closed the canal to fishing and other boats as the armada moved through the strategic passageway that connects the Red and Mediterranean Seas.

Despite Egypt’s reported refusal to block the canal to Iranian boats, the clearance for the American-Israeli fleet may be a warning to Iran it may face military opposition if the Iranian Red Crescent ship continues on course to Gaza.

The warships may exercise the right to inspect the Iranian boat for the illegal transport or weapons. Newsweek reported that Egyptian authorities could stop the ship for weeks, using technicalities such as requiring that any official documents be translated from Farsi into Arabic....

(Charles R. Swindoll, 1934– )

“A man that hath friends must show himself friendly.”

"God, thank You for putting the smile in my heart and on my face.

“We are creatures of habit. Old cranks have practiced all their lives, just as old saints have likewise practiced all their lives.”
(John Powell)

To chance a habit, we must choose to follow the disciplines required. As the writer of Joshua 24:15 says,
“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
Make it your habit to daily serve The Lord!

"God, I choose to serve You.

The Desert Rat has spoken to the longing by some for 'unity'...

I shall let the Rat speak...

How Disunity Can Be of God

"Why do there have to be denominations?"
"But if one is inclined to be contentious, we have no other practice, nor have the churches of God. But in giving this instruction, I do not praise you, because you come together not for the better but for the worse. For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that divisions exist among you; and in part I believe it. For there must also be factions among you, so that those who are approved may become evident among you" (1 Corinthians 11:16-19).

I've heard two different pleas for unity lately, one in a letter to an editor in a state newsmagazine, and another from a keynote speaker at a national convention. We've all heard lots of pleas for unity, and it's usually a unity that means "accept everything from everyone" or "let's unite under my authority and/or viewpoint." I gotta say: I'm not always interested in unity.

I'm not interested in unity with those who minimize a deep, biblical understanding of Jesus, eternal Son of God and son of man. I'm not interested in anything less than His utter Sovereignty. I'm not interested in unity with those who regard the Bible as merely man-created or outdated or live a pragmatic denial of its truth by their lifestyles and choices. I'm not interested in unity with those who think "conversions" fulfill the Great Commission rather than disciple-making. I'm not interested in unity with those "Christians" who think they can have a vibrant faith apart from the Body of Christ. I'm not interested in unity for the sake of unity unless it is a unity under Christ the Head of the Church with His Word and Spirit being the final and absolute authority.

Christ creates division. He is the Ultimate Catalyst. When He says, "blessed is he who does not take offense at me" (Matthew 11:6), it's because there's a real probably that you will be offended by the real Jesus! It takes a supernatural intervention in your heart for you NOT to be offended at Him. He is the Offense, as is the message of His cross (1 Corinthians 1:23). Are you blessed, or have you tried to tame the Lion of the Tribe of Judah?

"There must be factions among you..." From the solid standing of the Rock of the Word, I will love you, answer your questions, work for your good, etc. But I will not leave this place in which I stand. I will not argue with you, will not hate you, will not slander you, etc. But I will not join you if you stray into a swampland in Babylon. And I will not allow you to poison the flock I have been commanded to shepherd.

Approval comes through God in Christ, revealed by the work of the Holy Spirit in the midst of the Church, and His singular instrument of working in the midst of His Church is His Word. That is the approval manifested by division.

There will be unity when people gather before God to be taught by Him, not to re-make Him into a mirror image of our contemporary sensibilities and desire to be the center of the universe (Isaiah 2:2,3). The "swords" and "spears" will be beat into "plowshares" and "pruning hooks" not when humans come together in their own strength and wisdom, but when they are utterly and completely conquered and subdued by the LORD (2:4).

Want unity? Be consumed by the Offense.

"Of all the things you wear, your expression is the most important"
(Janet Lane)

We need to give someone a smile and a kind look, for we may be the only kindness that person sees today. The writer of Psalm 97:12 gives this advice:
“Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.”
Our daily goal in life--no matter the time, place, or reason--should be to let His love show on our faces at all times.

"God, keep a smile on my face.

The Chaplain's Corner

Guest blogger, Chaplain Paul, is one of the most effective chaplains in America today. He is an emergency responder to every situation.

Hey, this is the Chaplain again.

Sunday June 20, 2010 is Father’s day. The observance of Father's Day was started back in 1910 by a lady named Sonora Smart Dodd in Spokane WA. It is now celebrated all over the world. Of course it’s a good thing to honor our fathers – the Bible tells us to do that. But as important as it is to honor our earthly fathers, how much more should we honor our Heavenly Father.

The question is; how do we do that? To honor is to: appreciate, respect, admire, reverence, cherish, exalt and esteem. That’s a good list to start with, but certainly not exhaustive.

The Bible is full of verses telling us to honor the Lord.
“Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.” (Ps 29: 2) “Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together.” (Ps.34:3)
But I still wonder - how does that look in everyday life? For me it boils down to this, giving Him first place in every aspect of my life. Or to put it another way, letting Him be the Lord of my life. Lord = master, the one in charge, the one who calls the shots, the one who has the final say.

Does that describe your relationship with your heavenly Father? Who runs your life? Who’s in charge? Listen again to what Jesus told us,
“This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored. May your kingdom come. May what you want to happen be done on earth as it is done in heaven…” (Mt. 6:9-10)
Do you get it? It’s all about HIM! Where is your focus? Who does your world revolve around, you or Him? Now, please don’t misunderstand; I’m not there yet. But that is the direction I’m headed in.

Are you?

Brother... this kind of reporting out of Afghanistan is really getting old... quick.

How do you win a war when the sitting president of the country... doesn't want the war won?

Real Clear Politics
Don't Stop Special Ops: Karzai Sides with Taliban--Again

Within Afghanistan, only a single US program continues to do real damage to the Taliban. And President Hamid Karzai wants it to stop.

Our special operations forces (especially, the Army's) have been gutting the Taliban's leadership. Karzai doesn't like that. He didn't like our use of airpower and artillery, either. The Taliban feared them too much and told wild lies about civilian casualties. Most fire support ceased. More soldiers and Marines died.

Now Karzai wants to put a stop to "night raids" by our special operators. If he were actively allied with the Taliban, he couldn't do the terrorists a bigger favor.

A source deep in the fight provided hard numbers-countering Karzai's claims that our strike teams wantonly kill civilians:

--Our "most elite" SOF element struck 1043 high-value objectives over the past year, 80% during the hours of darkness. 45% of those black-ops missions-a very high percentage-were successes that "resulted in the capture or death of the targeted individual."

--Only a third of those missions-366--required our troops to open fire. They don't go in with guns blazing. On the contrary, these are the most-disciplined soldiers on earth. And night raids limit casualties: An enemy taken by surprise is less likely to respond effectively, so you don't unleash a firefight in the streets.

--In over a thousand raids last year, 18 non-combatants died-because they were bunking with the Taliban and got caught up in a fight. Compare that full-year casualty rate to the 93 people killed in a single day in Mexico's narco-insurgency last week.

--Last week alone, the Taliban murdered twice the number of civilians that our special operators killed in an entire year.

--Our top SOF element recently eliminated a half-dozen key Taliban commanders and sub-commanders, seriously disrupting the enemy's chain of command. Top Taliban leaders in Pakistan (protected by our Pakistani "allies") are scrambling to regain control in Afghanistan.

President Karzai's been briefed on these statistics. He ignores them and continues to rail about our SOF forces causing civilian casualties and "violating Afghan culture." Karzai stayed mum, though, about the Taliban's recent hanging of a seven-year-old boy as a "spy." Lynching kids is culturally acceptable.

The fact conventionally minded generals and Are-we-there-yet? pols won't face is that Afghanistan always was and remains a special-ops fight. Privately, SOF veterans mock our counterinsurgency doctrine as "a disease just short of paralysis."

That doctrine-for which soldiers and Marines are dying in growing numbers-assumes that we're partnered with a host government that has or can build credibility with its people, a government worth fighting for that has the interests of its people at heart. Instead, our troops serve as bodyguards for gangsters.

And President Karzai (rhymes with "our guy") has all but dropped the pretense that he wants to defeat the Taliban. He's rushing to cut deals behind our backs.

To show good faith with our enemies, he's methodically stripped us of our military advantages. Air and artillery support were all but eliminated. Our "decisive" Kandahar offensive was neutered. Originally planned for May, the campaign's theme is now "See You In September." Maybe.

Now Karzai wants to halt our SOF stirke missions-the only thing left that works in Afghanistan. While CIA drone missions across the border in Pakistan do great service, our troop surge is meaningless-because our troops aren't allowed to do anything useful.

According to one officer on the ground, the Army's elite 82nd Airborne Division, which recently wrapped up a thirteen-month tour, "did not target one bad guy." Those splendid soldiers were wasted.

Only our special operators are still in the fight. The rest of our forces have been reduced to serving as pop-up targets. Billions in aid have been squandered. Drug lords rule. Our local "allies" rip us off at every turn.

And the man we backed as the "George Washington of Afghanistan" is siding with the enemy. If we cave in to Karzai and rein in our special operators, it's game over.

The article is a great reference though for showing how our warriors are not a bunch of killing thugs... indiscriminately killing civilians at will... like our enemy does that we are fighting.

Karzai is beginning to look like the enemy.

Perhaps we should start referring to Arizona's Governor Brewer as.... America's Governor.

Just in case you are not catching it... this is pretty big stuff going on... having the heads of the United States White House, the Justice Department, and now the Secretary of State for the nation... to publicly... and now internationally... assault one of our sovereign State's decisions to defend herself is... pretty unprecedented... at least since the Civil War.

AP article

Clinton comment on immigration law riles Ariz. gov

PHOENIX – Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer said Thursday she's angry over comments by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton that the Obama administration will sue the state over its new immigration law.

In a June 8 media interview in Ecuador that began circulating Thursday in the U.S., Clinton said President Barack Obama thinks the federal government should determine immigration policy and that the Justice Department "will be bringing a lawsuit against the act."... It's unclear why Clinton made the comment since it's not her area. She couldn't be reached Thursday for comment.....

Brewer, a Republican, said in a statement that "this is no way to treat the people of Arizona."

"To learn of this lawsuit through an Ecuadorean interview with the secretary of state is just outrageous," she said. "If our own government intends to sue our state to prevent illegal immigration enforcement, the least it can do is inform us before it informs the citizens of another nation."

Brewer spokesman Paul Senseman said the governor was "outraged" and that Clinton's comments make it appear that the Justice Department has decided to file suit.

"But she's confident that in the end, the state of Arizona, the citizens, will prevail," he said.....

"Jan Brewer... America's Governor"

I kind of like the way that sounds.

Day 85

Yahweh

Not a "Co-Dependent"

But Naaman got angry and left, saying, "I was telling myself: He will surely come out, stand and call on the name of Yahweh his God, and will wave his hand over the spot and cure the skin disease.
2Kings 5:11 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

The person plagued with co-dependency allows their perceived state of happiness to be determined by another person that is usually a wretched individual.

It is usually a son or a daughter, husband or wife, or some significant person in their life. The wretched person finds myriads of ways of convincing the person that truly cares about them that if the person who cares would just give them one more break then the wretched person's life would be changed.

And this is repeated over, and over, and over again... slowly destroying the life of the dear soul that is always trying to rescue the wretch... to the point that the rescuer's sense of self-worth and personal value becomes totally consumed in the madness of trying to make the wretch... whole.

Yahweh is not co-dependent on any man or woman... and the servant of God must understand this lest they fall into the trap of making their service to Yahweh a total disaster of co-dependent guilting and ascribing their own worth to the assistance and deliverance of some wretch... and be sure that they will do all in their power to drag you down the same road of insanity.

Yahweh's movement to rescue wretched humanity was not based on a personal need of discovering wholeness through the deliverance of any creature... Yahweh moved on humanity's behalf... simply because Yahweh is... whole.

It's in The Name.

“No race can prosper till it learns that there is as much dignity in tilling a field as in writing a poem.”
(Booker T. Washington, 1856–1915)

We have become a society of people who judge individuals by the level of education instead of the extent of their character. Let us take the advice of th apostle Paul in Romans 12:3:
“For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”

The Borg Conspiracy explains the video.

The Lone Marine
Rolling Thunder 2010 In Remembrance

A solitary Marine holds vigil at full attention during the Rolling Thunder motorcycle rally in tribute to fallen comrades. 3000 vets on motorcycles from across the USA paraded in D.C. the Sunday before Memorial Day, while a solitary, saluting Marine greeted them out on Constitution Avenue. The Marine stood at salute for 3 straight ...hours, while the parade of roaring bikes kept on coming. It is held in remembrance of those who've fallen in the military. The camera is on the Marine a lot. Watch his struggles with his emotions, and his struggles with holding that salute. The way he salutes is very touching; his head lowered, his eyes down, in reverence for the fallen. It got to be overwhelming for him...and the tears started flowing, but keeps right on holding that salute.

The Lone Marine article from Military dot com

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 29

Thousands of people were lining the streets. It was May 29, Rolling Thunder Sunday in Washington, D.C., and the Run For The Wall was about to start. Impatiently pacing, I was scanning the crowds for one individual in particular, a Marine in full dress uniform. This particular marine had captured my curiosity. For the past several years, I had seen him in his dress uniform standing on the double yellow lines holding a salute for every biker in the Thunder procession. He would stand at attention from start to finish. This was a feat that would last over four hours and display the meaning of intestinal fortitude. I was on a quest to talk to this marine. I had tried in vain calling all the usual suspects from the Marine Corps, but no one knew anything on the subject. Only later did I find out this marine was a lone wolf, not a sanctioned poster boy for The Corps.

Noon was fast approaching and you could hear the collective roar of bikes getting ready to run their pilgrimage. I took one more long look around the corner of Constitution Avenue and then I saw him. Moving with a half swagger and half march, the marine approached, his family in tow, and he headed toward his appointed spot just shy of the turn onto Constitution. As he walked you could hear the loud shouts of "Semper Fi" which were in turn answered with a guttural "hoorah!" Along the way, he shook hands and stopped often to kneel down and talk to kids. You could feel his energy as he drew nearer and heard him speak. His demeanor was stern, but kind, and when he spoke he looked directly into your eyes. With a firm handshake, he agreed to give me a few minutes at the end of the run after the last bike rolled by. I in turn assured him a cold bottle of water when he was done. I knew he would need it.

A giant rock of a man was assigned to help guide motorcycles to the left and right, a road guard if you will. The marine began to take his position in the center of the street when a young boy wearing a Marines shirt walked up to him and in the blink of an eye, they were doing push-ups in the middle of the road. Suddenly, the call came out that the Run For The Wall was about to start. People were quickly cleared from the street. The roar of machines grew louder and the unrelenting lines of bikes appeared. In one smooth mechanical motion, the lone marine cocked his salute as bikes began to roll by.

The marine is Staff Sergeant Tim Chambers. I spoke to his mom, Diane Desantis, his grandmother Anne Desantis, his girlfriend, Mariam Ebrahimi and his buddy Nathan Linkof. Tim was one of six kids in a very active household. He came from a lineage of military folks as his father was a marine in Vietnam and his grandfather was in the Coast Guard in World War II. Tim?s family came from the small town of Silverton, Oregon.

Tim spends hundreds of hours helping out various charities, advocates for veterans' benefits and their causes and visits veterans' hospitals. Tim's card explains what he is all about. He is starting a charitable organization called "Tim-for-America" whose centerpiece is, "improving the quality of life of our youth, the less fortunate and heroic veterans." His aim is ambitious, but simple: Get people involved and volunteer to help.

After more than four hours, the last bikes finally came over the bridge and slowed down to pass by Tim. When the last escort motorcycle rode by, Tim cracked his salute in perfect military precision. He did a left face and walked toward his family. The surrounding crowds erupted into applause and people came from everywhere to shake Tim's hand and thank him. He would in turn thank every person for being there. Although sweating, Tim seemed no worse for the wear.

Tim explained that for several years, when he was stationed in D.C., he would wear his uniform during Rolling Thunder and walk around talking to people. He would shake hands and thank veterans and their families. He listened to their stories and their plights. Tim decided that he wanted to do something to show that he cared. He spontaneously, in full uniform, stepped into the road during Rolling Thunder 2002 and gave his salute to the riders in the Run For The Wall. The next couple of years his spontaneous salute evolved in to a planned event. This year, he was invited by The Rolling Thunder organization, which flew his family in from Oregon and Tim from 29 Palms, California.

As I walked away, it struck me that I hadn't asked the most important question. I turned around and called him, "Sergeant Chambers, why the salute?" His response was effortless and profound, "It's about the pain. A lot of these heroic guys still hurt and if I can relieve their pain for just one brief moment, then I've done my job."
