Yahweh, Day 59

Day 59 Yahweh... Shalom... "It Is Finished!"

Judges 6:24 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
“So Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and called it Yahweh Shalom.”

The last words of our Master on Calvary are usually translated, "It is Finished."  That is a fair enough attempt yet leaves something missing somehow.

Christ of course spoke Aramaic ... or a variant of Hebrew if you will ... and the last words of Christ spoken on Calvary were not "words" at all ... He spoke one word ... Shalom ... meaning ... completed.

There really is not an English word to compare or carry the richness and power of the Hebrew ... Shalom.

For Christ on Calvary the utterance carried the completion of Yahweh's wrath ... the penalty paid in full ... Christ's mission on earth accomplished ... the law fulfilled ... redemption's price is paid ... to get some idea of the power of this single word cried out by our Messiah.

Shalom.

Intercessory Prayer:  Oh Lord Jesus!  You did what we could never do!  You paid the price in full … to the last jot and tittle of the law … completed … shalom.  We praise You … Yahweh Shalom!  In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Yahweh, Day 58

Day 58, Yahweh ... Shalom ... "Completed"

Judges 6:24 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
“So Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and called it Yahweh Shalom.”
For 7 years Israel had been under the strong arm of Midian ... as a judgment from God.  Now it was time for deliverance from the punitive sentence that God had given to the nation.

One part of the revealed name, Yahweh Shalom, is of course now in the meaning of "Shalom."  The basic meaning  ... complete.

In our text here ... by revealing the name, Yahweh Shalom, God is announcing that Israel's punishment is "complete"... and vows to that completion by the force of The Name ... Yahweh ... now Yahweh Shalom.  In other words ... by all the power and authority of The Name ... Yahweh declares that the dark night is over ... the chastening is complete ... Yahweh Shalom.

God here swears to it by His name.

Intercessory Prayer:  Oh Father!  Thank You that when You say, “enough” that it is enough … it is finished!  In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Daily Nugget

Monday, March 31st, 2014, Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

“If you treat your wife like a thoroughbred, you'll never end up with a nag” (Zig Ziglar).

Today is my wife Reta’s birthday. Out of kindness, she can tell you how many others she's had...if she chooses.  God has blessed us with so many wonderful years together that we should be old, but with her, I'll never be old. She is such a blessing to me, and I am taking the advice of the writer of Ecclesiastes 9:9: “Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun.”

God, thank You for Reta and the years we have enjoyed together. Amen.

Yahweh, Day 57

Day 57 Yahweh ... The Glorious Name ... filling the whole earth ... What few, few people ever get to see ...

Recall first that the Hebrew word for "glorious" means "weighty" or heavy...

Deuteronomy 28:58-59 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
"... Fearing this glorious and awesome name-Yahweh, your God..."

Now ... hear the Seraph's song ...

“In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a high and lofty throne, and His robe filled the temple. Seraphim were standing above Him; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Hosts; His glory fills the whole earth."
Isaiah 6:1-3 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

Significant Lesson.

In the first 5 chapters of Isaiah we find Isaiah the Priest serving faithfully.  As you read those 5 chapters all one sees are the problems in Israel ... real and dread problems.

The capstone then crashes to the ground in the opening of chapter 6.  Uzziah the loved, faithful, respected King dies ... under the hand of Yahweh's judgment.  In the collective mind of Israel ... as it goes with the King ... so it goes with the nation.

This drives the Priest Isaiah to the Temple ... five agonizing chapters of sin and degradation in the nation ... now the King dies under the judgment of God.

Suddenly ... Unexpectedly ... the heavens blast open with vision and majesty ... the very Throne Room of brilliance bursts open before Isaiah's quivering eyes revealing spiritual reality not seen by man for over a thousand years ...

The Seraphim cannot help but sing their song of praise ... above the Throne ... above the Majesty ... and we dare not miss the last line of the song ... yet ... most of mankind never ... never ... hear these blessed words.  Oh ... yes ... they have been read multitudes of times ... yet not heard.

Are you ready to hear the revealed truth of the Seraph's Song?

"His glory fills the whole earth."

For five agonizing chapters all Priest Isaiah saw was the wretched condition of humanity and his nation.  Now ... finally ... Priest Isaiah gets his eyes off of humanity ... sees and hears the Heavenly utterance that Yahweh's Glory ... fills the whole earth.

Isaiah had been totally ... utterly ... absolutely blind to the Glory of God ... But ... God's Glory had filled the earth all the while ... yet he could only see the problems.

In that flash of revelation Isaiah was transformed from simply being a Priest ... and became a Prophet of the Most High God.  Can you hear the following that I share?

The Glory of Yahweh ... still fills the whole earth ... today.

Can you see it ... or are you still laboring under the weight of the world's ... fallen grief? Are you blinded to the Glory?

Would you become a Prophet instead of a labored Priest?

Intercessory Prayer:  Oh Father!  Help us see Your Glory in our world … so that we can proclaim Your Glory … to our world.  For Your Name’s sake.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Yahweh, Day 56

Day 56 Yahweh... The Glorious Name

And another word about the Glorious Name, Yahweh.

Deuteronomy 28:58-59 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
"If you are not careful to obey all the words of this law, which are written in this scroll, by fearing this glorious and awesome name-Yahweh, your God..."

The Hebrew word translated "glorious" is actually a participle ... a participle that simply means ... weighty.  Think about this for a moment ... the glorious Name, Yahweh, is … weighty.  The Psalmist has this in mind as he states, "May His glorious name be praised forever; the whole earth is filled with His glory. Amen and amen." Psalm 72:19 (HCSB)

We might think of this "weighty/glorious Name" from the idea of great influence ... as when someone says something people ask in desperation, “What did they say, what do they think?”

Have you learned to hear the manifested, Glorious Name of Yahweh?  The whole earth is filled with it's weight.

Intercessory Prayer:  Dear Father.  Thank You for revealing You Name … and the value of Your Name to us.  We love you.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.
