Daily Nugget

Saturday, May 31st, 2014, Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

“There are no days when God’s fountain does not flow” (Richard Owen Roberts).
God’s blessings flow to His children each day, but many are not aware of them. For example, some folks, in looking for divine blessings, look for the blessings to be covered with gold or silver, and believe those godsends could be delivered by a child’s hugs and kisses. We must be careful not to miss the diamond or blessing just because it has a little dirt on it.
We are reminded not to forget spiritual blessings, and when we start counting them, we are to remember the message of the apostle Paul: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3).
God, thank You for Your love and mercy poured out on me daily. Open my eyes to remember to count all Your blessings toward me. Amen.

Yahweh, Day 77

Day 77, Yahweh … Public Recognition

1Kings 18:36-39 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
"Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, today let it be known that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that at Your word I have done all these things. Answer me, Lord! Answer me so that this people will know that You, Yahweh, are God and that You have turned their hearts back."
Then Yahweh's fire fell and consumed the burnt offering, the wood, the stones, and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. When all the people saw it, they fell facedown and said, "Yahweh, He is God! Yahweh, He is God!"

And, the people cried out that Yahweh is God.  A very refreshing acknowledgment ... yet one that would be difficult to declare if one does not know God’s Name.

What could many people say today?  If asked what God’s name is, some might say something like, "The LORD... his is God!"  Except that the word LORD is of course a title and not a name at all.  Some might say that Jehovah is God's name ... without ever having a clue as to what the name Jehovah might mean.

My earnest prayer and desire is that when one has finished these brief studies that each and every one will be able to boldly declare that Yahweh is God ... with understanding.

Intercessory Prayer:  Dear Father, for the glory and for the praise of Your Name … help us to know Your Name … so that we might boldly proclaim with the ancients … Yahweh, He is God!  In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Yahweh, Day 76

Day 76, Yahweh… Appeal for an Awakening

Elijah knows that one aspect of Yahweh's power is that only God has the prerogative of turning His people's hearts back to Himself.  Notice carefully the statement, "Answer me, Lord! Answer me so that this people will know that You, Yahweh, are God and that You have turned their hearts back."

Truly ... only God can turn hearts back.   Jesus said this twice in the gospel of John chapter 6:44 and 65, "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him .... This is why I told you that no one can come to Me unless it is granted to him by the Father."

An Awakening is the function of God's grace ... and we would do well to beg Yahweh to do the same today.  It is an appeal that should be directed to God ... for the glory of His Name/Reputation.  As the people responded, "Yahweh ... He is God!"

Intercessory Prayer:  Oh Father God!  Turn our hearts back to You!  In this day and in this hour … turn us back to You … for the sake of Your glory and Your Name!  In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Yahweh, Day 75

Day 75, Yahweh… Validating His Word

Elijah appeals to God to uphold the Veracity of the Word/Message that He had given to Elijah.  Yahweh is very concerned about validating His Word.  It is paramount to upholding the veracity of His Name ... for if His Word cannot be trusted then His reputation/Name is tarnished.

Learn to intercede before Yahweh on behalf of the veracity/validity of His Spoken Word.

In your situation ... what is the tie to God's Word?  That is where your appeal is to be focused … not on the behalf of your situation … but on the behalf of how God’s Word applies to your situation.

Intercessory Prayer:  Oh God!  Teach us that what You have said is of greater importance than our circumstances.  Teach us to see our need in the light of what You have said and inspired in Your Holy Word … and this, that Your will might be accomplished in our lives as in heaven.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Daily Nugget

Thursday, May 22nd, 2014, Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

"God made the perfect and complete instrument: the human voice. It gives you personality, individuality, words, and music all in one vehicle" (Harry Verploegh, 1908–?).
Even as beautiful as is a well-orchestrated concert, nothing resonates with the human heart as does hearing the voice of a loved one, a friend, or a relative. Our voices can cheer someone and inspire someone like nothing else in this world can do. God loves to hear His children praising Him. We must not forget  to give Him praise daily. The writer of Psalm 109:30 gives us these words to encourage us to use our voices to praise God:  “ I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.
God, I love You and praise Your Holy Name. Amen.
