Yahweh, Day 55

 

Day 55 Yahweh ... Fear and Permission

...  And another word ... about the necessity of fearing the Name, Yahweh.

Deuteronomy 28:58-59 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
"If you are not careful to obey all the words of this law, which are written in this scroll, by fearing this glorious and awesome name-Yahweh, your God- He will bring extraordinary plagues on you and your descendants..."

Have you ever noticed how a threatening dog often will "read" you?  It is almost like they can literally … smell  … fear on you.  I've been told this about honey bees for example ... that they can smell fear.

Now ... it seems no one knows this for certain ... but ... dogs and bees can certainly "discern" if you are a threat to them … and in the case of dogs ... if you fear them ... fear invites aggression on their part.

The same is true spiritually.  When we fear something, we in essence give that very thing permission to assail our lives.  Job learned this lesson after he had lost all including his health:

"... The thing I feared has overtaken me, and what I dreaded has happened to me."
Job 3:25 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

Do you want something to overtake you?  If so ... just fear it.  Do you want Yahweh to overtake you?  If so ... fear His Name.

Intercessory Prayer:  Oh Father, may we never fear anything in this life.  May we reject the threats and bullying aspects that assail us on any and ever level of our lives.  Teach us to have complete and total confidence in You … in Your Presence … and in Your protection … alone.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.
