Yahweh, Day 51

 

Day 51 Yahweh ... Loving and Obeying Him

Yesterday we saw the responsibility of loving Yahweh ... and we saw Jesus restating the same need that we love Him and obey His commandments.  First our Old Testament text.

Deuteronomy 7:9 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
"Know that Yahweh your God is God, the faithful God who keeps His gracious covenant loyalty for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commands."

And again the Lord Jesus in John 14:15

"If you love Me, you will keep My commandments."
 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

And what is it that Christ commands us?  First that we love one another ...

"I give you a new commandment: love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must also love one another. By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
John 13:34-35 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

Our Savior here states that this call to love one another is a new commandment ... and with the newness of this command He states that it will be through this committal love that the world will know that we are in fact disciples of Jesus.

So ... how do you think we are doing?  How do you think the world thinks we are doing?  How are you doing?

Intercessory Prayer:  Oh Father!  For the sake of Your Name … teach us to love You … and each other … so that the world will know that You are God.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.
