Yahweh, Day 48

Day 48 Yahweh the "Faithful" God

We have a very simple, yet vital point today, about this revealing of our "Faithful" God.

The first use of the Hebrew word in scripture is found in Genesis 15:6 where the text says succinctly...

Genesis 15:6 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
"Abram believed the Lord, and He credited it to him as righteousness."

The Hebrew word for "believed" here is the same Hebrew word as "Faithful" in Deuteronomy 7:9, “Know that Yahweh your God is God, the faithful God who keeps His gracious covenant loyalty for a thousand generations…”

... Abraham "believed"... or if you will ... Abraham "faithed" God.  Don't miss this point ... the Hebrew word is a … verb.

We typically think of "believing" and "faithing" as being something of a "noun"... an "idea" we hold on to ... but not so the Word of God ... for God ... "Faith" is an action.  For God to be faithful implicitly means that He moves on man's behalf.

Deuteronomy 7:8-9 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
..."But because the Lord loved you and kept the oath He swore to your fathers, He brought you out with a strong hand and redeemed you from the place of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9 Know that Yahweh your God is God, the faithful God who keeps His gracious covenant loyalty for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commands."

Oh ... what a Savior!  May we learn to cry, "Oh Yahweh ... I faith you!"  And then do it.

Intercessory Prayer:  Oh Father!  You have moved on our behalf.  You have demonstrated “faith” for us by Your actions.  Help us to learn that … faith and belief … are actions.  As the Apostle James has said, faith without action, is dead. (James 2:17)
In Jesus Name.  Amen.
