Yahweh, Day 45

Day 45 Yahweh’s Purpose for Redemption?

We must understand God’s priorities/purposes to begin to understand God.  Is this not our singular, one, great goal in life … to know/understand Him? (If not … you are living in great confusion.)  We find the key word of God’s action for Israel ... redemption ... in verse 8, leading to this further revelation of the significance of the Name, Yahweh ... the Redeemer.

Deuteronomy 7:8 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
“… He brought you out with a strong hand and redeemed you from the place of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9 Know that Yahweh your God is God…”

Question: “What is God’s main purpose for moving into the affairs of men in order to “redeem” Israel?”  We find the answer in Chronicles:

1 Chronicles 17:21 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
“And who is like Your people Israel? God, You came to one nation on earth to redeem a people for Yourself, to make a name for Yourself through great and awesome deeds by driving out nations before Your people You redeemed from Egypt.”

The One purpose of Yahweh’s movement on behalf of Israel was for Yahweh’s own sake … to make a “Name” for Himself … establishing His Reputation.  This superlative purpose stands to this day … even for all eternity … and the redeemed of Yahweh will say so.

Intercessory Prayer:  Oh God!  Help us to see that our lives should have as our number one goal, to bring honor to the reputation of Your Name here in this life.  Help us, for Your Name’s sake.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.
