Yahweh, Day 281
Day 281
Yahweh: A Time for Silence
Yahweh: A Time for Silence
Amos 5:13 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
“… Therefore, the wise person will keep silent at such a time, for the days are evil. Seek good and not evil so that you may live, and the Lord, the God of Hosts, will be with you…”
“… Therefore, the wise person will keep silent at such a time, for the days are evil. Seek good and not evil so that you may live, and the Lord, the God of Hosts, will be with you…”
Unfortunate the situation, when through the displeasure of Yahweh, silence is required. We might think of this as the lull before he storm.
When the trumpet of warning is sounded and resounded, and subsequently ignored again and again … comes this dread shadow. God’s people feared one act of God more than any other, the act of silence. Israel would much rather endure the hot displeasure of God’s mighty hand … than for God to … remove … His hand … and become silent.
This represented not only the removing of God’s direct displeasure, but also represents the removal of God’s protection and provision. This is the culture or individual cast out to sea without a rudder … to be driven and tossed by the chaos, whims, and evils of fallen man.
And at times we are commanded by Yahweh … to be silent.
This is in the Name.
