Day 9: When Humans Attempt to Supplant Yahweh

Historically, humans have had a difficult time coming to grips with the reality that we are not God … yet … Yahweh is always prepared to remind us that we are not God. 

There are certain things that only Yahweh can do, and one of those things is to control the destiny of the human race.

Consider the boasting of our race in the day that we decided that we would not be divided…

Gen 11:4-5 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
“‘Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the sky. Let us make a name for ourselves; otherwise, we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.’  Then the LORD came down to look over the city and the tower that the  men were building.”

Yahweh straightway confused their language … scattered them over the face of the earth … and demonstrated that human efforts at solidarity apart from and if the place of Yahweh, are … nonsense.  It is a difficult lesson to learn.

Intercessory prayer: Oh Father!  Forgive our boasting and arrogance, for we are as divided now as ever in our brief history.  Every effort we have tried to bring about peace and harmony apart from Your personal help and direction … has brought nothing but more misery and suffering.  Oh Father!  Bring, we Your blood bought citizens, to the foot of The Cross, to the blood stained emblem of our salvation.  Help us to hold high The Cross as the only true solution to the horrors of human degradation and evil.

Help us to glorify Your Name above all others.  In Jesus Name.
