Yahweh, Day 7

Day 7: What Yahweh Sees…

We see quickly in scripture that Yahweh wants us to understand that he thinks in generational terms … we must understand this. We actually see it first in the slaying of Able by his brother Cain.  Yahweh… coming to Cain after the fateful murder of his brother … makes a very telling statement to Cain. Actually, no English translation gets it correct in one especially important place. Following is the Holman’s rendering…

Genesis 4:10 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
“Your brother's blood cries out to Me from the ground!”

In the Hebrew language text, the Hebrew word “blood” is actually in the plural form. The sentence would therefore literally read, “Your brother’s bloods cry out to Me from the ground!”  Yahweh is actually saying to Cain that not only has he killed his brother Able … but in so doing Cain has also killed all of Able’s descendants that would have been … “your brother’s bloods…”

Yahweh not only saw Able's descendants ... Yahweh also heard them crying out ... You see  … God thinks and sees generationally.

Intercessory prayer:  Oh Father!  We humans are so … blood thirsty.  Oh God!  Have mercy!  Oh God!  Bring us understanding!  Oh Father!  We have slaughtered so many of Your sons and daughters!  Oh God! Please … open our eyes … for Your sake … make us to see.  In Jesus Name.
