Yahweh, Day 5

Day 5: The Strategic Yahweh

Exodus 3:14-15 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
God replied to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you.”  God also said to Moses, “Say this to the Israelites: Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever; this is how I am to be remembered in every generation.”

The next point to establish is that Yahweh wishes us to think in terms of … generations … or we might say that Yahweh wants each one of us to have a personal life strategy based on generational impact and thinking.

The back door approach to understanding ‘generational’ thinking is to first mention it’s opposing life strategy.  That would be living with a simple ‘survival’ mentality.  The most obvious example of the survivalist mentality is seen in the destitute street person whose only concern is where their next meal is coming from.  A more subtle form of the survivalist mentality is seen in the pretty typical life strategy of living and planning for … retirement.

You may not have thought of it this way before… but simply attempting to plan for an adequate retirement … is frankly living with a survivalist mentality.

Yahweh doesn’t strategize this way.

“Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob…”

Intercessory Prayer: Oh Dear Father, teach us to plan the way You plan.  We can’t even begin to see our individual lives … much less understand what You are doing in the world … if we don’t understand how You think, plan, and work Your plan for creation.  We can’t even begin to know how to live our lives and plan our service to You unless we know how You think.  So, Dear Father … for the honor of Your Name, for the mission of You Kingdom work in this, Your world … and so that we can see Your desires accomplished in our lives and in this world as Your will is done in Heaven … in Jesus’ Name and for Jesus’ sake … teach us to see life … like You see.
