Daily Nugget

   Monday, February 4th, 2013. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

In a sermon on sin, a preacher announced that there were 789 different sins. A few days later the mailman delivered 94 requests from members of his congregation for a list of the 789 sins. (unknown)

Now the obvious question is, “Why did they want to know?” Did they want to know to be sure and not commit a single one of them, or did they want to try all of them out? The sad thing is,  (we) “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Because of sin, Romans 6:23 reminds us, “The wages of sin is death” and I am glad a semi-colon is there instead of a period because the rest of that verse is the encouragement, “But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

God, Thank You for Your unmerited gift to those who follow You.  Amen.
