Yahweh, Day 291

Day 291
Yahweh: Does What He Pleases

Jonah 1:14-15 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
“…‘For You, Yahweh , have done just as You pleased.’  Then they picked up Jonah and threw him into the sea, and the sea stopped its raging.”

We often find ourselves trying to convince God to do that which pleases us.  This is of course the exact opposite of what our passion should be.  In the midst of the storm the pagan sailors had enough discernment to realize that Yahweh does exactly that which pleases Himself.  Then, they straightway tossed Jonah into the sea.

I am sure being tossed into the sea was not exactly that which pleased Jonah, but it pleased God.  God even had a great fish prepared to swallow up the errant prophet.  And that pleased God.  Jonah got the message.

What is your storm?  The first issue is not to get out of the storm, but to discover what lesson our Great God has for us, for His pleasure.

This, is in The Name.
