Russian officials extended a formal invitation to Western Christian organizations recently to come to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and train public school teachers and administrators how to teach innovative courses on Judeo-Christian principles in some 120,000 public schools. In response, The CoMission—primarily a Christian educational movement—was formed. The CoMission is looking for 12,000 Christians who are willing to spend a year living and working in the CIS. A Russian deputy minister of education says, “Seventy years ago we closed God out of our country and it has caused so many problems…we cannot count them. We must put God back into our country and we must begin with our children” (Servant Magazine, Jan. 1993, p. 8).

Wow, Russia asked us to help teach them what our country is moving away from. Maybe they will be kind enough to send missionaries back to us when we realize what a mistake we have made electing representatives who not only close God out of our country, but also insure He and His principals are not taught to our children.

I think the writer of Psalms 33:10-12 wisely says it best with these words, “The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect. The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.”

God, forgive us for wandering away from You. May we return to the values of our forefathers that You might be able to bless America again. Amen.
