Yahweh: Working

Amos 9:6 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
“He builds His upper chambers in the heavens and lays the foundation of His vault on the earth.
He summons the waters of the sea and pours them out on the face of the earth.
Yahweh  is His name.”

We note today the way God works.  When we think about work we think about some kind of labor, or energy exerted to accomplish a task/job.  The way Yahweh “works” is to speak.

Recall the creation account that states over and over, “And God said…”  And when God said it, it was accomplished.  God speaks things into existence, and only God can do this.  Abraham understood this as Paul to the church at Rome said of Abraham, “… He believed in God, who gives life to the dead and calls things into existence that do not exist.” Romans 4:17 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

We have to take something that exists and work with it to make something else.  We cannot speak things into existence.  This is because God said to the freshly fallen Man in Genesis 3 that we would be resigned to physical work the days of our lives.

We … are not God.
