Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill

A distinguished French officer asked Washington’s mother how she managed to rear such a splendid son. She replied, “I taught him to obey.”

It is our job as parents to teach our children to obey. Learning to obey parents, teachers, and laws of our land prepares us to learn the greatest test of obedience, and that test is obedience to God our heavenly Father. Samuel in 1 Samuel 15:22-23 said, “Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.”

God, thank You for parents who taught me to obey them and led me by example to obey You.  Amen.
