Yahweh, Day 269

    Day 269

Yahweh: ... Using a 'lack' for discipline

"You will have plenty to eat and be satisfied.
You will praise the name of Yahweh  your God,
who has dealt wondrously with you.
My people will never again be put to shame.
You will know that I am present in Israel
and that I am the LORD your God,
and there is no other.
My people will never again be put to shame."
Joel 2:26-27 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
Joel begins his prophetic word recounting how God used natural physical means to humble the nation Israel.  The brunt of those measures used to interrupt and wreak havoc on their agricultural crops.  This havoc bringing about what our translations generally term as 'shame.'

We often fail to realize that the stable of any successful society is a plentiful harvest of edible goods.  Of all the items that we might desire to bring pleasure to our lives the one most crucial, and the one we often take for granted, is food.  Yahweh has designed that we need food, not just for pleasure, but we need food for survival.

The abundance of food that we do have should bring a resounding hymn of thanksgiving to our God for His bounty and blessing on our land.

This is in the name.
