The Chaplains Corner

The Chaplains Corner

Guest blogger, Chaplain Paul, is one of the most effective chaplains in America today. He is an emergency responder to every situation.

Hey, this is the Chaplain again, and it's Easter.

One of our Easter traditions is the egg hunt. Children love to search for Easter Eggs; many are plastic eggs filled with surprises. I think the idea of surprise is
most appropriate for Easter. Easter is all about SURPRISES. In fact everyone, except God, was surprised by Easter.

The Roman guards were certainly surprised by the angel moving the stone . . . Consider the surprise of the women who went to the tomb with spices to anoint a dead body . . . Peter and John were absolutely surprised to find the tomb empty . . . And later a group of frightened disciples that had locked themselves in a room were undoubtedly surprised then Christ supernaturally appeared.

Now, how surprised do you think Peter was that Jesus took him back? On that first Easter morning Peter got a Special Delivery Message. In Mark 16 the angel told the women at the tomb, "Don't be afraid! You are looking for Jesus . He is risen! . now go and tell his disciples and especially Peter ." (v. 6-7)

Wow, can you believe that - 'especially Peter'! Listen if you've blown it, if you've sinned - again, if you have made the same mistakes over and over, the surprise of Easter is; if the Lord still wanted Peter - He still wants you.
