“A good laugh is sunshine in a house” (William Makepeace Thackeray 1811-1863).

When a beekeeper comes into the area of his hives, he is able to tell very quickly the mood of the hive. He can tell if there is harmony or anger just by the sounds the bees are making. The same is true in a home, classroom, club, church, and ultimately country. I love to come into a room of children that I can hear long before I see them because of the laughter coming from the children’s play. Laughter is one of the sweetest sounds we will ever hear anywhere.

The writer of Proverbs 17:22 shares these words of wisdom with us: “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”

God, thank You for laughter You send to us each day. Amen.
