“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower”  (Albert Camus).

Where we find beauty is often a matter of perspective. The bud is a hope for leaves and or fruit. The green leaf is for shade and beauty in itself. The maturity of autumn brings forth another chance for us to enjoy the beauty as the leaf shows off with a splendor of color. Even as it turns to brown and falls to the earth, it becomes ground cover compost and nourishment to the next generation of growth.

The writer of Isaiah 61:3 gives us these words: “To bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, a mantle of praise instead of a spirit of despair.”

God, thank You for the beauty You place before us everywhere. Amen.
