Daily Nugget

Tuesday, September 10th, 2013.  Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

“What a father says to his children is not heard by the world, but it will be heard by posterity” (Jean Paul Richter).

As parents, we are not always in the limelight; consequently, the rest of the world may not know who we are or what contributions we may have made to the lives of our children. However, if we look around us, we will see the results of what parents have taught their children, whether good or bad. We must be careful with the seeds we are sowing because the fruits will be seen in the next generation.

"If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, nourished by the words and faith and of the good teaching that you have followed. But have nothing to do with irreverent and silly myths. Rather, train yourself in godliness, for, the training of the body has a limited benefit, but godliness is beneficial in every way, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come" (I Timothy 4:6-8).

God, let me be faithful in the task of teaching my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as they prepare for life. May the seeds sown be weeded by Your hand to bring forth the best fruit. Amen.
