Yahweh, Day 272

    Day 272

Yahweh: ... Vowing
"You will have plenty to eat and be satisfied.
You will praise the name of Yahweh  your God,
who has dealt wondrously with you.
My people will never again be put to shame.
You will know that I am present in Israel
and that I am the LORD your God,
and there is no other.
My people will never again be put to shame."
Joel 2:26-27 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
Notice how God makes this declaration about Israel not being put to shame is stated twice, and that based on the character of God's name Yahweh.  If you will, God is making a solemn declaration, or God is here taking and making an oath, making a vow based on His Name.  God is here making this vow based on the surety of His Name because there is no greater source for Him to make this vow.

Consider this while reading from Hebrews 6:13-20 today, and be assured.

13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, since He had no one greater to swear by, He swore by Himself: 14 I will most certainly bless you, and I will greatly multiply you. 15 And so, after waiting patiently, Abraham obtained the promise. 16 For men swear by something greater than themselves, and for them a confirming oath ends every dispute. 17 Because God wanted to show His unchangeable purpose even more clearly to the heirs of the promise, He guaranteed it with an oath, 18 so that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to seize the hope set before us. 19 We have this [hope]-like a sure and firm anchor of the soul-that enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain. 20 Jesus has entered there on our behalf as a forerunner, because He has become a "high priest forever in the order of Melchizedek." Praise the Name Yahweh!

This is in the name.
