Yahweh: ... Present

"You will have plenty to eat and be satisfied.
You will praise the name of Yahweh  your God,
who has dealt wondrously with you.
My people will never again be put to shame.
You will know that I am present in Israel
and that I am the LORD your God,
and there is no other.
My people will never again be put to shame."

Joel 2:26-27 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

Here Yahweh says the remarkable, "I am present in Israel."  To the ancient mind the thought of God actually being present was typically a terrifying thought.  Yahweh was Holy and separate from not just sin, but also separate from creation.  Now Yahweh states that He would be present, with, among mankind.  

For we today this is a precious promise and reality.  God is present through the presence of the Holy Spirit.  And for the Christian the Holy Spirit is not just present in the world, but much more is present in our very lives and hearts.  We no longer fear not only the Name of God, but we also relish the reality of God's presence in this world and even more, in our lives.

Praise the Name Yahweh!
