Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill
Archbishop Secker
used to say, “God has three sorts of servants in the world: some are slaves,
and serve Him from fear; others are hirelings, and serve for wages; and the
last are sons, who serve because they love.”
Many of us start
our journey with God as slaves serving Him with fear of messing up and God
"getting" you. Some evolve into working for God for what they get out of
it, either in this world or in the eternity to come. As we draw closer to God,
we understand He isn’t just out to catch us failing, or doling out rewards to
us, but God wants to have fellowship with us as family. The apostle Paul explains it this way in Galatians 4:4-7, “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth
his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them
that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath
sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then
an heir of God through Christ.”
God,
thanks You. Amen. [‘nuff said.]
