Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill
A mother came to
President Lincoln seeking the pardon of her son, under sentence of death. The
result of her pleading was that Lincoln issued a pardon. After leaving him, as
she passed through a corridor, she exclaimed to Thaddeus Steven, who
accompanied her, “I knew it was a lie!” Stevens asked, “What do you refer to?”
She replied with vehemence, “Why, they told me he was an ugly-looking man, but
he is the handsomest man I ever saw in my life.”
As we look into
the mirror, we see the imperfections and remember Romans 3:23 that says, “All
have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” That is looking at reality.
God looks at us through His love in John 3:16 and remembers, “For God so loved
the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
God,
thank You for seeing us through Your love. Amen.
