Yahweh, Day 254

Day 254

Yahweh

... Confessing that which should be obvious ...

"While I was speaking, praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my petition before Yahweh my God concerning the holy mountain of my God- ..."
Daniel 9:20 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

For today read the first 19 verses of Daniel 9. As you read these verses pay attention to Daniel's confession of Israel's sins. Ask yourself, "On what grounds does Daniel make his appeal to Yahweh for ... mercy?"

Does he ask on behalf of Israel's basic goodness, kindness, greatness, or any other redeeming quality on Israel's part whatsoever? You will find the answer is a resounding ... NO ... on each and every count. Israel had received exactly what she had richly deserved.

Daniel's intercession ends up being totally a reciting to Yahweh about Yahweh's own character and personal attributes ... as well as a concern for Yahweh's reputation and purpose for Yahweh's own sake. Period.

This is the understanding that Yahweh is looking for in the world today.

This is in The Name.
