The Chaplain's Corner
Guest blogger, Chaplain Paul, is one of the most effective chaplains in America today. He is an emergency responder to every situation.
Hey, this is the Chaplain again.
I was walking out of a store when I noticed a penny on the ground. I bent over and picked it up. It was old and dirty, but I rubbed it a little and there it was – a message; an important reminder. “IN GOD WE TRUST”
How much is a penny worth? Maybe more than you think. Not for its monetary value, but for the reminder that’s on it; IN GOD WE TRUST.
Say, who, or what, are you trusting in? What are you counting on for the tough times? How often do you stop to realize that it’s only God that you can really trust? I think it’s ironic that we have the phrase, IN GOD WE TRUST, written on our money; because we tend to trust money more than God.
The recent economic downturn should remind us that we really cannot count on our money to save us. But that’s OK. That’s what Jesus is for. The next time you see a penny, let me encourage you to pause, read the message, and be reminded; IN GOD WE TRUST.
