Daily Nugget
Friday, January 23rd, 2015. Today's cherished nugget
from guest blogger, Pastor Bill.
A visitor, passing through a certain department of a
large shop, noticed a set of regulations written on a blackboard. He also
noticed that, in several particulars, every man in the shop was disregarding
them. He questioned the foreman concerning the matter. At first the man was
reluctant about answering him. Finally, he said, “Those rules were written by
one of the firm. He has neither wisdom nor judgment. If we should follow his
directions, we would ruin a good part of the work.” In other words, the men took
their own way because they lacked faith in their commander.
In whatever way we may characterize it, failure to obey
is simply lack of faith. When we fail to obey God for whatever excuse the world
gives us, whether in the giving of time or of money, in assembling together, or
just praising His name, we show the world our lack of trust and faith in
Him.
Remember the words of the writer in 1 Samuel 15:22-23:
“And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and
sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than
sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of
witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.”
God, forgive us for choosing anything above enough faith
just to obey You. Amen
