Daily Nugget

Sunday, December 15th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

A woman visiting New York City saw on the sidewalk a ragged, cold, and hungry little girl, gazing wistfully at some of the cakes in a shop window. The woman stopped and, taking the little one by the hand, led her into the store. Though she was aware that bread might be better for the cold child than cake, yet, desiring to gratify the shivering and abandoned one, she bought and gave the little one a cake she wanted. Then, taking the child to another place, the woman purchased for the girl a shawl and other items of comfort.
The grateful little girl, holding the shawl against her cheeks, looked the woman right in the eyes, and with precious simplicity, asked, “Are you God’s wife?”

Can someone see the face in God in our eyes? If not, why not?  Though, as Paul wrote in the Book of Acts, “...the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch” (11:26), as Christians today, we must reflect the love of God in all that we do. We must be worthy of our calling as Christians.  We must adhere to the beautiful hymn, "Let Others see Jesus in You."

God, help us be the arms, legs, and hearts for others to see You in all that we do. Amen.
