Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill
“A sacrifice of
praise will always cost you something. It will be a difficult thing to do. It
requires trading in our pride, our anger, and most valued of all, our human
logic. We will be compelled to voice our words of praise firmly and precisely,
even as our logic screams that God has no idea what he’s doing. Most of the
verses written about praise in God’s Word were penned by men and women who
faced crushing heartaches, injustice, treachery, slander, and scores of other
intolerable situations.” (Joni Eareckson Tada)
In spite of the
whippings for preaching the gospel, the apostle Paul himself found it possible
to give thanks and praise. Too, he was able to praise and worship God in
spite of being thrown into prison several times and even while shipwrecked and
having been snake bit. Through it all, Paul reminds us in Philippians 4:4, “Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I
say rejoice.”
God,
we lift our voices from heavy hearts, knowing our praise to You must not be
stifled by circumstances on earth. Again, You alone are worthy of praise.
Amen
