Yahweh, Day 295

     Day 295
Yahweh: Our Peace

Micah 5:4-5 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
“He will stand and shepherd them in the strength of Yahweh,
in the majestic name of Yahweh His God.
They will live securely, for then His greatness will extend
to the ends of the earth. He will be their peace…”

“He will be their peace…”  The great Hebrew word ‘peace’ carries a much fuller meaning than simply a lack of conflict.  As a matter of fact, God’s peace is often given in the middle of conflict.  Jesus speaks to this in John 14:27:

"Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful.” (HCSB)

The Hebrew meaning for ‘peace’ is better understood by the one English word, completion.  The Hebrew word is, shalom, and carries the idea of having been completed or fulfilled.  As our Master said in the above verse, God will bring us to fullness, completion, and that often in the middle of trials.

This, is in The Name.
