Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill
A
little girl was walking in the cemetery with her aunt. She was
examining the various gravestones when suddenly she cried out, “Oh,
auntie, look here! Here is the tomb of some poor person who has not gone
to heaven.” “Not gone to heaven?” replied the astonished aunt, looking
at the elaborate monument with weeping angels sculptured in marble.
“Why, what do you mean?” “Well, auntie,” said the child, “the lady or
gentleman in the grave cannot have gone to heaven, or the angels would
not be crying!”
What wisdom from a child. Not only would it
make the angels cry, but it has to break the heart of God to know there
are those who reject the gift of salvation provided by the blood of
Jesus. In 2 Peter 3:9, we find the words: “The Lord is not slack
concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is
longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that
all should come to repentance.”
God, help us to reach out to others to rescue those who are perishing eternally from
You. Amen.
