Rupturing of the Earth

 For many this is news.

Early members of an ancient family of trees, the cypresses, grew on the supercontinent Pangaea, and when this giant continent split apart, it shaped the future of these trees, according to research that examined the evolution of these trees, which today include giant redwoods and sequoias.
More than 200 million years ago, Pangaea contained all the modern continents, squished up against one another. The separation of these continents isolated populations of living things, putting them on different evolutionary paths.
Scientists have already found evidence of the separation of the continents in the family histories of reptiles, amphibians and mammals....

Actually the Bible tells of this forming of the continents in the book of Genesis.

"Eber had two sons. One was named Peleg, for during his days the earth was divided..."
Genesis 10:25 (HCSB)

Where our text says "the earth was divided..." it means exactly what it says.  During the days of Peleg's life, the earth was split apart.  Before, there were no continents.

Mankind said at the Tower of Babel that they could ensure that man would not be divided.  God said something like, "Oh yea?"  God then confused their languages which scattered them over the face of the united earth.  God then split the earth apart, forming the oceans, another barrier to the arrogance of mankind.

Only in Christ will there ever be true unity.  God has declared it so.  That is why in Revelation 21:1 the simple statement is made about the recreated earth, "and the sea existed no longer."  The walls of division will have been eternally removed.

Praise Yahweh.
