Daily Nugget

Friday, September 9th, 2011.

Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

A Christian farmer was constantly jeered at by a non-Christian because he would not work on Sunday, but went to church and gave his tithes to the Lord’s work. At the end of a poor harvest season, the non-Christian said to him, “Where is your God? He has certainly failed you, hasn’t He?”

“Oh, no,” the Christian said, “my God does not close His books at the end of the harvest season.”
In this economy, as well as past recessions, depressions, setbacks, economic corrections, and downturns--or whatever other name by which you call it, we face some of the same challenges as others. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 5:45:

“He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”
As we face the same challenges, we are able to relate to and have compassion on others.

"God, thank You for the opportunities You send our way bring growth to us.
Amen."
