Daily Nugget

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011.

Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

The story is told of young Charles Darwin, who one day was eagerly holding one rare beetle in his right fist, another in his left fist, when suddenly he caught sight of a third beetle. Immediately, he knew that he must have that insect for his collection. What to do? In a flash, he put one of the beetles in his mouth for safekeeping and reached for the third beetle with his now free hand. Unexpectedly, the mouth-imprisoned beetle squirted acid down Darwin’s throat, and in a fit of coughing, he lost all three beetles.

In the story of Jesus' visit to His friends, Mary and Martha, we see that Mary--even in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the moment--kept her focus on Him. The writer of Luke 1:42 tells us,
“Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.”
Sometimes for us just to sit and listen is the best way for us to understand it all.

"God, help us to slow down and keep our focus on You even in the storms. Be with the families who lost family and or property in the storms this week.
Amen."
