Wednesday, November 10th, 2010. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

A rabbi was asked a question by a pupil, referring to Deuteronomy 6:6: "And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart.” After hearing these words, the pupil asked, “Why is it said this way? Why are we not told to place them in our heart?” The rabbi answered that it is not within man’s power to place the divine teachings directly in his heart. “All that we can do is place them on the surface of the heart so that when the heart breaks they will drop in.”

How true it is. The problem is too many times we have so hardened our hearts to things around us that almost nothing touches out heart, much less breaks it. The writer of Hebrews 3:15 challenges us with these words:
“Today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts, as in the day of provocation.”
The children of Israel hardened their hearts and spent 40 years wandering in the wilderness when they could have been worshipping Him and relaxing in the Promised Land.

"God, continue to break our hearts with the things that break Your heart and help us to respond.
Amen."

Bro. Bill

Our God is an awesome God.
