When they first manufactured golf balls, they made the covers smooth. Then it was discovered that after a ball had been roughed up, one could get more distance out of it. As a result, they started manufacturing them with dimpled covers. So it is with life; it takes some rough spots in our lives to make us go our farthest.

When we understand that every bump, bruise, trial, and challenge is orchestrated by God to make us into the person He wants us to be, we have more reasons to give Him praise. The writer of Psalm 139:14 reminds us,

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

"God, thank You for the 'rough spots' You give us.
Amen."
