In the past, many deals were made with a handshake, and when that happened, those involved knew they did not even need the handshake. A man’s word was as good as gold back when gold was stable and the traders hadn’t manipulated it. In spite of the rest of the world, let us follow these words from the writer of James 5:12:

“Let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay.”
