Day 80
Yahweh
Always Has a Prophet
But Jehoshaphat asked, "Isn't there a prophet of Yahweh here any more? Let's ask him."One would do well to note in this chapter how the One that inspired this text resisted actually naming the King of the Norther Confederacy of Israel until after his ignoble death in verse 35... with the vivid picture of dogs lapping up his putrid blood... and prostitutes washing in the waste water of his cleansed chariot.
1Kings 22:7 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
Ahab's 400 lying "prophets" could not alter the judgment of Yahweh on His rebellious King... try as they may... under the influence of lying spirits... sent to them by Yahweh... for His own purposes.
Jehoshaphat, King of Southern Judah, asks for a reliable spokesman... recognizing the trite accolades from the liars for what they were... liars.
We would do well to listen to the Spirit of Truth... rather than the flattery of men and spirits... of which there is no end... until the end.
