Day 48
Yahweh the "Faithful" God

A very simple point about this revealing of our "Faithful" God.

The first use on the word in scripture is in Genesis 15:6 where the text says succinctly...
Genesis 15:6
"Abram believed the Lord, and He credited it to him as righteousness."
(Holman Christian Standard Bible)

The Hebrew word for "believed" here is the same Hebrew word as "Faithful" in Deuteronomy 7:9... Abraham "believed"... or if you will... Abraham "faithed" God. Don't miss this point... the Hebrew word is a verb.

We typically think of "believing" and "faithing" as being something of a "noun"... and "idea" we hold on to... but not so the Word of God... for God... "Faith" is an action. For God to be faithful implicitly means that He moves on man's behalf.

Would you dare entertain the idea with me for one moment... that Yahweh... just might... believe in us?

Deuteronomy 7:8-9
..."But because the Lord loved you and kept the oath He swore to your fathers, He brought you out with a strong hand and redeemed you from the place of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9 Know that Yahweh your God is God, the faithful God who keeps His gracious covenant loyalty for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commands."

Oh... what a Savior.

May we learn to cry, "Oh Yahweh... I faith you!"
