Thursday, January 14th. Today's cherished Nugget from guest blogger Pastor Bill.

“I suppose that if you had asked the men in Elijah’s time what kind of man he was, they would have said, ‘He is very peculiar.’ The king would say, ‘I hate him.’ Jezebel did not like him; the whole royal court didn’t like him, and a great many of the nominal good people didn’t like him; he was too radical. Be willing to be one of Christ’s peculiar people, no matter what men may say of you.”
(D. L. Moody)

It is not fun to be thought peculiar when we have to make unpopular stands for God. After the trial is over, however, we are left with a great feeling knowing we were not trying to please men, but that our reward comes from our Father in Heaven. It is also good to know we are in such great company. Let us remember the words of the writer of the Book of Hebrews in chapter 12 verses 1-3:
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds."

"God, thank You for being with me in this world with all its trials.
Amen."

Be the man or woman God wants you to be.
